Experience

Senior Financial Analyst

Chicago, IL

Eastern Mountain Sports

September 2009 - Present

. Coordinate the preparation of yearly budgets for all areas of

operation including 67 retail stores, ecommerce operations, and

all overhead departments. Includes modeling, analysis, and

strategy meetings with executives, store management, and cost

center management.

. Prepare monthly financial packages and re-forecasts that

incorporate yearly actual results plus any anticipated budget

changes for the remainder of the year. Updates to three and

five year forecasts are done on a quarterly basis.

. Create variance analysis reports and work with managers to

identify budget/forecast variances and explain them to upper

management. This includes helping managers determine monthly

accruals and anticipate any future expenses or timing

constraints that may be different than budgeted.

. Trained new financial analyst to prepare financial reports and

use/maintain budgeting software, access databases, and other

systems necessary to perform our responsibilities.

. Work with department management to identify and track key

business metrics like customer traffic, transactions, conversion

and average dollar sales. This information is used to determine

effective promotions that help to drive key metrics in the right

direction. This includes strategy meetings to determine free

shipping and other offers to drive traffic and average dollar

sales.

. Help to identify potential new stores and create pro-forma

financial statements for senior management to review. The

company is currently moving to stores that are about twice as

large as their existing stores, so analysis is focused on

managing occupancy costs and what-if scenarios using different

revenue assumptions.

Senior Analyst

Chicago, IL

Mather Lifeways

August 2008 - September 2009

. Part of a team of three Senior Analysts that were responsible

for organization-wide budgeting. Included corporate office

budgeting, preparation/consolidation of the budgets for five

senior living facilities, and Board Report narrative. For 2009,

I led an initiative to cut net spending by 15% in my departments

as part of an effort to offset the company's declining endowment

value.

. Prepared monthly cash flow and financial forecasts. This

included fixed asset budgeting, account reconciliations,

variance analysis of all operations, and summarization of

endowment performance.

. Worked as lead analyst for the company's research arm, Mather

Lifeways Institute on Aging. Included program pricing, grant

proposal preparation, and statistical analysis for Board

Reports.

. Performed ad hoc analysis as directed by CFO and Controller on a

regular basis. This included an analysis of medical supply

expenses which led to a new RFID tracking system for medical

supplies at all senior living residences, the implementation of

a new "point of sale" system into the dining venues at our new

residences, and providing capital spending analysis for the

various Building Services Directors.

Financial Analyst II

San Diego, CA

BAE Systems

September 2006 - July 2008

. Worked as project lead for the conversion of all financial data

and reporting systems to Deltek Costpoint software. The main

responsibility was to ensure that all of the company's financial

reporting requirements and analysis needs would be met once the

new software went live.

. Forecasted cash flows and created cash reports to track actual

spending.

. Responsible for revenue recognition, monthly forecasts using

Hyperion, and variance analysis. Our finance team saw the

company generate over $200 million revenue during 2007 and

achieve its highest rate of return to date.

. Prepared pricing, budgets, and financial write-ups as part of a

proposal team working on multi-year government contracts. In

2007, our proposal team won bids for four contracts that will

generate $500 million in revenue for BAE Systems through 2012.

. Established Forward Pricing Rates including direct labor rates,

overhead rates, and general & administrative rates that were

approved by the DCAA. Captured actual rates for weekly Cost

Analysis Reports and provided analysis and explanations to upper

management.

. Prepared weekly cost reports aggregating cost data, budget data,

and funding levels. Calculated ETC's (Estimate to Completion)

for individual jobs within the contract I was assigned to.

Deal Capture Analyst

Chicago, IL Federal Home Loan

Bank of Chicago

September 2005 - August 2006

. Maintained the bank's trading databases and created hedge

reports and trade tickets for interest rate swaps, bonds,

futures, and advances.

. Created monthly reconciliation reports to address key

differences between the bank's market values and their counter-

party's market values for certain trades.

work experience and coursework.

proficient with Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, macros), Access,
