Senior responsibility for all plant operations and maintenance of a 55
megawatt electric and steam generation facility that provided service and

and 50 employees with an O&M budget of $5.5 million and a capital budget of
$7 million.

P&L responsibility for all plant operations including staffing, budgeting,
quality control, and customer relations. Directed and managed the work
activities of six direct reports and 125 employees. Trained in Toyota

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
TEAM BUILDING AND COACHING
. Transformed a non-cohesive management team at the Sixth Street Station
by replacing the operations and maintenance manager within year one
and establishing clear goals and expectations for the team to follow.
Resulted in a management team that worked well together and
successfully completed the major renovation of the facility to burn
Powder River Basin coal.
. Developed a staff in Mason City with little management experience by
coaching and counseling, and establishing clear objectives and
expectations. Resulted in the northwest region saving over $400,000 in
operating expenses through budget oversight, expense management, and
implementation of hiring controls.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
. Orchestrated three-year, $18 million project to convert Sixth Street
Generating Station to burn Powder River Basin coal. Resulted in
facility being able to meet federal and state air emission laws, while
lowering plant fuel costs by several million dollars per annum, by
burning a higher percentage of coal versus natural gas.
. Instrumental in the implementation of a new, more efficient, headliner
manufacturing production process for the Honda Odyssey van. Resulted
in greater customer satisfaction/approval due to higher product
quality.
STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING
. Coordinated activities of Alliant regional team to disconnect
electricity and gas to flooded businesses and homes when a flood hit
Mason City, Iowa on June 8, 2008. Resulted in saving over a million
gallons of fresh water at the city water department from being
contaminated by flood water, allowing for quicker restoration of city
water services. This also prevented any injuries to those people
experiencing flood damage.
. Participated on the management team that negotiated two new labor
agreements with the union at the Sixth Street Station. Resulted in
reduced overtime labor costs and provided greater flexibility in
contractor work rules.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
. Led the implementation of the Maximo Predictive Maintenance Management
System at the Sixth Street Station. Resulted in having the ability to
document processes and provide data necessary for conditioned-based
maintenance.
. Organized and led several kaizen projects at the UGN production
facility. Resulted in reduced staffing, improved process flow, and
increased productivity.
