WORK HISTORY:
January 2008 to April 2010:PACIFIC WEST NURSERIES, LLC
Anderson, California
Chief Operating Officer - Managed and directed nursery
operations with production of more than 120,000,000 bareroot
strawberry plants and over 450 employees. I analyzed
requirements and budget constraints to configure and installed a
network infrastructure to support offices in California, Oregon
and Simcoe, Ontario, Canada using Windows Server 2008, Hyper-V
and Sonicwall Virtual Office technology. I assisted in the
creation and implementation of a budget that saved over
$2,000,000 from the previous year largely by analyzing and
modifying work-flow processes. I also assumed the Sales and
Export managers' responsibilities including direct communication
with customers, US sales, international sales and international
export after he left the company during harvest. As the COO,
I have also been closely involved with trimshed management,
payroll, growing, fertilizing, harvesting, lease agreements,
equipment maintenance, shipping, security systems, weather
tracking systems, web site design and installation.
April 2007 to January 2008:PRE-EMPLOY.COM
Anderson, California
Network/Systems Administrator- Create and support systems and
processes for 28 servers in a 200+ user environment. I
performed the typical administration duties of an electronic
environment consisting of mostly Windows Server 2003. I
supported and maintained server and user applications including
Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft CRM, GFI Mailessentials, GFI
Faxessentials, Terminal Services and a variety of custom built
applications and processes. Some of my other regular duties
included pc hardware troubleshooting, user workstation moves and
desktop support. I also implemented the use of login scripts
using a true scripting language (Kixstart). I created a virtual
test environment (UAT) based on a Linux host with VMWare ESX
server running multiple concurrent Windows Server 2003 virtual
servers. I was pivotal in the design of a fully virtualized
server environment including the disaster recovery site in a
remote data center. Many duties have been excluded for brevity.
I also supported software developers (in-house and overseas)
who required constant maintenance of their workstations, systems
and debugging theories. Many of my miscellaneous projects
focused on automation of electronic processes and electronic
procedures in this dynamic environment.
July 2005 to April 2007: TEKSYSTEMS, INC.
Sacramento, California
Server/Workstation Technician - On-site technician for large
scale (nationwide) projects ranging from virus eradications to
server upgrades/installations. Clients included: Blueshield of
California, Macy's, NorCal Rehab, Red Lion Hotels, US Bureau of
Indian Affairs and Wal-Mart. Provided detailed installation
notes to home offices regarding the installations.
July 2005 to April 2007: ULTIMATE TEK, LLC
Redding, California
Co-Owner. Created and provided information technology solutions
across a variety of industries. Offerings included
software/hardware hosting, web design and collaboration,
technical project management, I.T. assistance and data
conversion/migration. One of the larger projects included
setting up over 30 remote VPN connections and automation
routines for collecting and pushing data over these extended
networks. Additionally, I installed and upgraded the security
and surveillance systems for multi-state operations. Some of my
favorite projects were those created to automate redundant
tasks; bank recons, sales reporting and accounts payable. I
also created a process that automatically imported data from a
spreadsheet to a SQL Server database. Created Views and Stored
Procedures in SQL Server that were called from Excel VBA forms
and web page input forms. This was a 24/7, on-call, critical
situation business. I supported Apple, Unix, Linux and all
Windows operating systems along with some proprietary systems
(time clocks, drive-thru timers, point-to-multi-point wireless
devices, etc.).
April 2002 to July 2005: ADVANTAGE WARE, INC. (AWI)
Redding, California
Special Projects Manager / Sr. Engineer. My job duties
included network administration for 17 servers, management of
all hardware installations, proprietary software installations,
creation of all software builds and patches/updates, data
migrations from several types of platforms and databases,
management of helpdesk and trust accounting staff, software
training onsite, creation and maintenance of the AWI test bench
for the development and support teams. I created and
implemented many special projects, some of which included bank
reconciliation automation processes, maintaining and utilizing
formal classroom training environments, and implementation and
installation of virtual machines for software test-beds. My
projects included surprise trainings, automation routines,
analytical processes and all business critical issues. I held
several different management positions (Customer Support
Manager, Trust Accounting Manager and finally Special Projects
Manager) moving on when key processes were in place guaranteeing
the success of the departments. I was the critical tier-3
support person for large software installations for more than
1000 user installations. I managed multiple data center
installations that relied upon Terminal Server and Citrix
Server. This software was migrated from the IBM AS/400 server
platform and ported to the Windows platform while also being re-
written in the .Net web development environment.
April 2001 to October 2001: TOPS INDUSTRIES, INC.
Redding, California
Controller. One of my first projects for this company was to
automate as much of their manual processes as possible. I did
this by utilizing excel to create import files for the G/L
system. This cut out much of the manual processes for inventory
and bank reconciliation entries, not only saving a great deal of
time, but also making the information more accurate. My
immediate responsibilities included preparation of financial
statements, bank reconciliations, G/L account reconciliations,
confirmation of A/P and A/R, and network administration.
April 1997 to April 2001: ADVANCED LEASE SYSTEMS, INC.
Redding, California
Software/Customer Support Manager. Duties included software
testing (Y2K team), installations and training of lease, loan
and general ledger accounting software systems and custom
software programming as well as large data conversion projects.
I traveled throughout the United States and installed the
various software systems and followed up by training its use. I
provided remote support at the main office. This software was
ported from the Alpha Micro minicomputer platform to Windows
Server platforms (NT and 2000). It was necessary to support the
software on both environments while testing and providing input
on a full Windows re-write using Visual Basic.
HOBBIES: Running, biking, swimming, weight lifting and experimental
software development projects.
