Prior Experience
2005-2009 - Coats North America (Hendersonville Plant) - Responsible for
month end closings of the books, KPI reporting and monitoring, AFE
preparation and expenditures, labor variance reporting, costing of new
products, shipments, receipts, and inventories. Also lead the management
team in implementing SAP for the Hendersonville location, correcting
errors, COGIs, etc.
1993-1999 - Milliken & Company (Hatch Plant) - Responsible for monitoring
and controlling costs for the Hatch knitted apparel plant. These activities
included; budget preparation, petty cash, pooling costs directly to
businesses, assets, depreciation, preparing special expenditure requests
and justifications, payroll, and plant supplies. Also responsible for the
management of Micro-Vax 2000 and Novell Network Users and PCs.

Major Projects
Largest Privately Owned Textile Company in North America - Milliken &
Company
. Controlled costs for the Columbus, NC circular knitting plant.
. Evaluated 2 manufacturing facilities one being actively marketed for sale
as an asset held for sale and as a discontinued operation. Prepared
memorandum supporting positions and accomplished the Hatch Plant as being
the place to consolidate all of Milliken's knitting machinery to keep the
plant operating.
. Orchestrated a team of management and production associates to redevelop
inventory control procedures that were routinely overstated and reflected
out of control variances. Results: Eliminated $250K variances per quarter
by correcting overstated package weights, improving counting procedures,
and educating inventory teams.
. Hired and trained two summer interns for a Controller position. Directed
their document imaging efforts as applied to creating Standardized
Controller computer programs, and the creation of Monarch models for
financial reports and income statements thus resulting in the company
derived over $100 K annual savings by eliminating the expense of paper
print-outs in these applications.
. Organized and directed the first major Pursuit of Excellence meeting
presented to all Controllers within a Fortune 100 Textile Company. This 3-
day meeting emphasized Peer to Peer comparative score auditing and
information sharing. Recognized by top management and Controllers for
presenting one of the most impacting meetings in the history of the
company.
. Mentored and trained two Junior Associate Controllers for Milliken &
Company. Conducted seminars and individual coaching sessions on subjects
ranging from budgeting and cost control to depreciation and cost
allocation. Results: Both Associates have subsequently been promoted to
Controller positions within key profit centers of the company.
North American Bonded Thread Manufacturer - Coats North America
. Supported V.P. Financial Officer - Accounting position reporting
financial results to the Charlotte corporate office.
. Streamlined the book closings each month from 7 days to 3 days by re-
creating financial statements with Excel spreadsheet format by
downloading actual information into it.
. Tightened, monitored, and reduced cost on the fixed budget by at least 2%
or more each year. The company saved $120M per year for three successive
years.
Other Accomplishment
Team-man-ship & Productivity
. Developed and implemented an innovative plan to eliminate internal late
deliveries of circular knit fabric in order to improve efficiencies and
increase overall production. Established teams to brainstorm and
flowchart all operations in the production department using kaizan
methodologies. Results: Achieved two successive years of zero (0) late
deliveries, and improved process reliability from 89% to 92% in a single
year.
Associate Attitudes
. Developed and implemented weekly meetings designed to actively involve
style changers and planning leaders in the process of scheduling
machinery for style changes. Result: This proactive involvement of labor
in the production process promoted conflict resolution, significantly
helped reduce work place stress and tension among associates, and
improved morale from 89% to 97% on the Associate Attitude Survey.
