My primary experience is running a project throughout the full life cycle,
from initial kick off meeting, through design to requisitioning and
fabrication, to inspections and culminating with the installation and
commissioning of the project.
During commissioning, I gained management experience as I was the Site
Supervisor in charge of coordinating workload and manpower amongst my
company, the customer, and contractors on site.
Relevant Engineering skills are: AutoCAD R14, 2001, and 2009, Inventor
2010, SolidWorks 2002, 2005, and 2009, Cosmos, SolidWorks Simulation, Six
Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, 5S, GD&T to ASME Y14.94, rapid
prototyping, QA Inspections, MS Office Suite, MS Windows, ECN use and
creation, and vendor management.

Metron is a supplier of Packaged Pump Systems, Fire Pump Controllers, and
Custom Electrical Products, of which Switch Gear is their specialty.
Mechanical Engineer
. Low-voltage switch gear. Worked individually or with others to design
low voltage switch gear.
. Primary duty was the design of low voltage switch gear. Includes, but
not limited to, bus work, tap boxes, gear with metering sections, and
all housings.
. Secondary duties included design work for packed pumping systems,
working with assembly to ensure correct builds, provided information
to improve designs.
CORE Furnace Systems Corp., Coraopolis, PA, January 2007 -
August 2009
CORE Furnace Systems is a supplier of metal making equipment, focusing on
furnaces, material handling, and key auxiliary equipment for steel mills.
Project Engineer (Sept. '08- Aug. '09)
. Melt Shop Department. Working both as an individual Project Engineer
and as either a team member or team leader on multidisciplinary
engineering teams.
. Primary duty was the design of metal making equipment, including but
not limited to: Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Metallurgy Furnaces,
Vacuum Tank Degassers, Material Handling Systems and related auxiliary
equipment. This involved following the product throughout the life
cycle from initial kick off meeting to design, to fabrication and
inspection, to installation and commissioning.
. Secondary duties included the QA inspections on fabrications, drawing
review, requisitioning, and document control for each project. As the
project engineer, I was responsible for approving all drawings in the
package, requisitioning all required parts and fabrications,
inspecting or setting up inspections for all fabrications, and
overseeing or setting up installation and commissioning.
CORE Field Supervisor (July '08 - Sept. '08)
. Revamp of an EAF in Quebec, Canada. As the field supervisor I was
responsible for the installation and commissioning of the project and
of the coordination of manpower and workload between CORE, the
Customer, and all on site contractors; completing the job ahead of
schedule and after installation of the new equipment the customer saw
production doubled and power consumption reduced by 40%.
Lead Mechanical Engineer (Jan. '07 - June '08)
. Led multiple multimillion dollar projects that were completed on time
and on budget.
Yale Commercial Locks and Hardware, Inc., Lenior City, TN June 2006 -
November 2006
Yale is a supplier of locks and hardware for commercial buildings and
facilities.
Product Engineer - Contract through Aerotek
. Cylindrical Profit Center. As a Product Engineer, I was a member of a
multidisciplinary Engineering team responsible for the Cylindrical
Profit Center.
. Primary duty was the development and management of current products,
this included but is not limited to improving current products,
solving problems on the production line, creating drawings, creating
or modifying ECN (engineering change notices), setting up and running
durability tests.
. Developed prototypes and testing for various products to improve
overall reliability, quality, and value. Prototypes were made in
house from drawings that I created and then installed on testing
fixtures that I designed and oversaw the running of.
. Responsible for the redesign of two lock functions, reducing failures
by 30%.
. Developed a new product that would take the place of 6 current
products. This lent itself to a cost reduction and parts savings of
well over 100% as compared to the current product line.
. Worked with Quality Control to design and develop new hard gauges to
improve quality checks. These gauges were used to help lower the
instances of incorrectly stamped parts from the in house presses by
40%.
. Designed and developed new test equipment for cycle testing
electromechanical lock sets. These fixtures helped to lower the
instance of warranty work on this particular product by 30%.
. Worked in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineer and Continuous
Improvement leader to create designs for gauges, parts, equipment to
aid in Lean Manufacturing goals and to help achieve the Six Sigma
goals for our area.
Precise Cast Prototypes and Engineering, Inc., Commerce City, CO January
2006 -April 2006
Precise Cast specializes in non-ferrous prototype castings and machined
parts, and low volume production runs of parts made from Aluminum, Zinc,
and Magnesium.
Project Engineer (Interim)
. Primary duty was Lead CAD Drafter, and as such all drawings were
created to be sent out for tooling creation or rapid prototyping to
use in the mold making process.
. Responsible for all parts outsourcing to local machine shops, heat
treat, and plating houses. Coordinated with the vendors and the shop
floor to schedule pick ups and drop offs.
. Managed outside machining projects. Worked with the machine shops to
get quotes, inspection progress and the final product, and schedule
shipments.
. Inventory Control duties where new organization and tracking
procedures were implemented. This helped to lower the instances of
inventory variance and helped to keep cost and extra parts down.
Overall improvement was in the 35% range.
Personal and for Profit, Radio Controlled Rock Crawler 2004 -
Present
. Lead Engineer, CAD Drafter, and Sponsored Driver for Sinastir
Crawlers, from January 2008 to January of 2009.
. Developed 1 full new chassis, and helped with another new chassis for
Sinastir Crawlers
. Active Competitor along with being a past National and Local Rules
Chairman.
. Designed and scratch built five different rock crawlers. Currently
field three trucks, one for each of the officially recognized classes.
