. Improved the security of sensitive data stored in the production database
of a wireless service provider to reduce fraudulent activities. Designed,
developed, and implemented a data encryption process using Triple Data
Encryption Standard (DES) procedures of the Oracle obfuscation toolkit to
mask the clear text data.
. Reduced by 87% the runtime of the billing software's database objects
migration across three system releases, a process that would otherwise
have caused the client's production database to be offline for at least
30 hours was completed in 4 hours. Led the team of database analysts in
the development and implementation of this multi-release migration
package.
. Streamlined the development testing process of database objects by
developing and implementing a private database schemas concept that
provided each user the ability to create their own copy of the product's
database objects for individualized testing on the same development
database.
. Enhanced the availability and recoverability of the internal work
management system's production database by implementing two remote
standby databases, allowing for a quick failover in case of production
database failure.
. Designed and developed performance-tuned custom PL/SQL, Ksh shell and
Perl scripts for database tables and data conversion for feature releases
of the billing software, which had a 100% accuracy rate during deployment
to the production databases.
Responsibilities Included:
. Created and maintained Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g databases for development,
integration, and system testing needs of the application development
groups.
. Performed database cloning, data loads and refreshes, and Oracle-related
configuration and set-up of database servers.

. Analyzed, designed, and implemented logical and physical database
structures using the Erwin modeling tool, PL/SQL, SQL and shell scripts
and UNIX source code control system (SCCS) procedures.
. Analyzed system specifications and developed PL/SQL procedures and
packages, triggers, views and other database objects for use by the
application software.
. Developed patch scripts and packages to deliver database objects and code
updates to production databases.
. Installed, patched and upgraded Oracle RDBMS software. Migrated databases
to the next higher Oracle release.
. Performed troubleshooting, identification, and resolution of issues
related to the database.
. Created and maintained UNIX ksh/csh shell and Perl scripts that automated
basic operation, administration, and maintenance (OA&M) activities to
support and monitor multiple databases.
. Assisted application development groups in developing complex and
performance tuned SQL query statements.
. Created and published 'How To' technical documentation for internal use.
Also wrote installation documents and user guides.
. Provided development rough order magnitude (ROM) and detailed estimates
for database development work.
. Conducted staff meetings and reviews of technical work. Provided training
to new group members.
Database Administrator, Itasca, IL (1996 - 2001)
Database Analyst and lead installer for a rules based mediation system that
translated any standard Cellular switch data format to a flexible and
configurable downstream format.

database schemas for this product, delivering one major release and two
minor releases per year.
. Led the installation team in the development of the installation package
and its implementation in the client's test and production servers.
. Progressively improved the performance and efficiency of the database set
up for this product by performing sizing and tablespaces load balancing
based on anticipated data volume.
. Created and maintained comprehensive schema documentation for use by the
application development group and production DBAs.
. Migrated Oracle 7.3 databases to Oracle 8i.
