Work Experience
****-**** - *********, ************ *********, LLC: Served as president of
a virtual company formed for the purpose of developing wind ranch and other
alternative energy projects on Native American reservations, with the
tribal councils of those lands owning a majority share of any projects
developed there. Duties include the administration of a staff located in a
variety of locations around the country; preparing business plans for
specific projects; and, presenting the concepts of the project(s) to
individual tribal councils.
2006-2010 - Executive Director, Rutland Redevelopment Authority: Oversaw
the municipal planning efforts and economic development programs for the
City of Rutland. Duties include business recruiting, grant writing,
preparation of planning documents, business planning, budgeting,
interaction with Aldermanic board. Responsible to Authority Board of
Commissioners.
2005-2008 - Broker, ERA Mountain Real Estate: Listed and sold real estate
as Vermont licensed real estate broker.
1999-2006 - Member, Glenville Energy Park, LLC: Partner in the development
of a 520 megawatt electric generating facility in Glenville, New York.
Duties included public relations, oversight of permit process, fundraising
and managing of real estate issues.
1986-2006 - President, Macaulay Group, Inc.: Sole employee of Sub-S
corporation providing services in the following fields: real estate sales
and evaluation, energy development and business consulting and fundraising,
including serving as executive director of the EDC Fund, Inc., a non-profit
group providing funds for businesses creating or retaining jobs in two
local counties.
1997-2000 - Estech North, Inc., Vice President: Oversaw the development of
electronic security devices, including the receipt of one patent. Selected
the manufacturer of products. Managed branch office and directed
administrative activities such as payroll, tax preparation and public
relations.
1995-1997 - Rutland Employers Alliance for Cooperative Healthcare,
Executive Director: Managed membership organization and negotiated
purchasing of products and services offered to members, such as small
business health insurance and prescription plans.
1991-1996 - Vermont State Senator, Rutland County: Served six years in the
Vermont State Senate, chairing the Natural Resources and Energy Committee
and the Appropriations Committee during that tenure. Other committee
assignments included the Transportation Committee and the Health and
Welfare Committee.
1995 - Town of Brandon, Interim Town Manager: Served in this capacity for
three months, assisting in the search for a permanent town manager.
1993-1995 - Clough, Harbour and Associates, Branch Manager: Managed branch
office and solicited work projects for this multi-dimensional engineering,
planning and environmental company.
1989-1991 - Rutland Group, Inc., Salesman: Solicited construction projects
and managed corporate giving program.
1986-1989 - Lacroix Appraisals, Inc., Branch Manager: Conducted residential
real estate appraisals in southern Vermont, trained appraisers, and
administered commercial real estate office. Successfully completed course
work toward RM designation from the Appraisal Institute.
1986-1988 - City of Rutland, Alderman: Served one term as alderman,
including assignment to the Community Development and Public Works
committees.
1985-1986 - Montgomery Company, Salesman: Solicited listings and serviced
prospective buyers of commercial real estate and businesses in southern
Vermont.
1981-1985 - City of Rutland, Commissioner of Public Works/Director of
Community Development: Served in dual capacity overseeing approximately 75
employees in the public works department, including the street crew,
wastewater treatment facility, water department and landfill, as well as
overseeing economic development activities and staffing of the planning
commission and zoning board of appeals.
1981 - Cadillac Fairview, Project Manager: Oversaw the construction of an
office building in Baltimore. Researched and developed sites for shopping
centers from New York to Alabama.
1974-1981 - City of Schenectady, Director of Planning and Economic
Development: Started as an intern in the department and was promoted
through the ranks to Director over seven year period. Administered staff
of ten which was responsible for administration of CDBG funds, organizing
neighborhood organizations, providing staff to the planning commission and
neighborhood organizations, as well as overseeing city-wide economic
development efforts.
