all 7 Class I North American railroads. Committee was charged with
implementing and integrating rail equipment safety alerts. Instrumental
in winning support from all Class I railroads for moving forward with
controversial new functionality. Became the voting member for Norfolk
Southern, where typically other railroads sent representatives from the
Mechanical Department.

Technical lead for a large, multi-year project handling the B2B website
allowing railroad shippers to view and manage shipments online.
Provided B2B services for over 1,500 external customers and the internal
Marketing Department. System served the largest customers and was
considered very successful. External customers expressed their wishes
that the other railroads would provide this type of system for their
use.

Served as consultant to the FDIC on their CTM system which handled the
disposition of failed bank assets. Sole integrator of the IBM Host
On-Demand system, an early method for adding web interfaces to legacy
systems. Learned quickly and was allowed to convert the entire system.

Led the analysis, design, and programming of the Marketing Information
System. Marketing management pushed to have me placed on the system due
to my understanding of their needs. Delivered the first Teradata data
warehouse for the Roanoke division.

Assigned to Norfolk Southern. Designed and programmed marketing systems
and developed revenue estimating system.
Assigned to Sara Lee Direct. Designed and programmed store ordering and
inventory systems. Developed dynamic store inventory ordering algorithm
that required no data storage. All store inventory levels were built
dynamically using parameters stored in the database. Performed 100% of
the Y2K conversion due to my speed of coding and testing the changes.

Programmer lead on the legacy trust system charged with converting a
legacy system to a third party application. New development was divided
into two application teams. Served as the programmer lead for one team
and attended all meetings to map the conversion effort. Wrote the specs
and oversaw the programming by four or more contract programmers.
Filled in when the other team's programmer lead left the company.
Assigned to lead both teams' programmers without a new hire due to
organizational skills and productivity.

Successfully designed and programmed for the largest, costliest,
multi-year project ever undertaken by CP&L. System replaced their
customer information management functions along with billing and work
orders. Became the team lead for the batch system in just over two
years out of college.
