Employment History
Aftersoft
Dec'99-Feb 2010 (Development/Project Manager
AfterSoft is a supplier for ERP software for parts
distribution warehouses and retailers. At AfterSoft I
managed 6 developers, 3 of whom were offshore developers,
in a combination of software maintenance and new
development for the ERP package in a Windows 2003
environment using a relational database. I produced quotes
and statement of work for our customers. I produced project
plans and managed projects using MS project and AGILE
methodology. I managed each project from an initial project
quote, requirements gathering, project reviews, code
reviews, unit testing, system testing, integration testing,
deployment, and customer acceptance. Some of my key
accomplishments were:
. Developed a web service in VB.NET that supported our
B2B e-commerce web site which allowed customers to,
place orders, check inventory, and check their
account status.
. Developed an EDI system that received and processed
both customer and vendor orders into our ERP system.
. Developed a hand held scanning system which received
inventory real time and did inventory counts.
. Developed a C++ wrapper program which was used as an
interface from our PICK based system to a set of 3rd
party C++ libraries.
. Developed a reporting system which normalized the
PICK data structures and put them in a MySQL
database.
. Developed a seamless integration between our ERP
system and a 3rd party Point of Sale system.
My experience at AfterSoft includes: jBASE, vb.net, IIS,
C++, and mysql.
National Pacific Mortgage Corporation
Dec'95-Dec'99 ( Senior Systems Analyst
National Pacific runs on an advanced PICK system, and I was
hired to design and program the system in order to transmit
and receive data from outside entities into their loan
processing system. This involved setting up their UNIX
system on the internet, writing PICK programs to
communicate to the internet via TCP/IP socket programming,
configuring and providing support for 30 remote Windows95
laptops in TCP/IP communication for both data and mail to
and from our UNIX host server.
I was assigned a project management role using MS Project
to manager outside resources in order to develop an
internet loan processing application. The web application
was written in JAVA and interfaced with our internal loan
processing system. The project was a $300,000 project and
was completed on time and within budget.
I was also the UNIX systems administrator and provided UNIX
support to the programming staff. I completed 2 weeks of
training on UNIX and 1 week on CISCO routers.
PacifiCare Health Systems/Health Plan of America
July'87-Dec'95 (Computer Programmer/Supervisor/Project Lead
In 1992, PacifiCare acquired Health Plan of America. I had
different responsibilities for each company, therefore I
will list them separately.
PacifiCare: Developed an automated provider
settlement process between Providers (Medical Groups, IPAs,
and Direct contracts), Hospitals, and the plan for all
expenses, revenues, and hospital budgets. I was the
project lead for this half million dollar project. I
directly supervised 1 analyst and 4 senior programmers.
Part of the solution to this settlement system was the
design and implementation of a Data Warehouse and Decision
Support System. This project required extensive data
modeling and process diagrams. I used Microsoft Project to
level resources and monitor progress.
I was the project lead for gathering all business
requirements for integrating the Health Plan of America
business onto the PacifiCare computer system. This project
required extensive data Flow Diagrams to accurately model
the business needs, and I directly supervised 4 Analysts on
the project.
Health Plan of America: I designed and programmed the
billing system. I was the project lead for the design and
development of the utilization management system. I was
the project lead for the maintenance and support of the
claims processing system, re-development of the capitation
system, and for converting data and applications from the
Honeywell system (PICK) to a Hewlett Packard 9000 system
(Universe). I planned and implemented the system
administration and security for the HP 9000 system. I had
direct supervision over 4 Programmer/Analysts.
Alert Computer Systems

Designed and developed an environmental waste management
system for Orange County. This included documenting all of
the business requirements and designing a system to meet
the requirement needs.
