Overview of Primary Skills
C/C++ Programming Languages
File I/0
Populating records
External Sort
Control Break Processing
Hashing
SQL and Relational Algebra
Utilized concepts of relational algebra and functional decomposition with
E-R diagrams to determine how to store the information within a database
in a way to reduce data redundancy by using key constraints
Created databases and populate with tables using SQL CREATE commands
Populated tables using INSERT commands
Modified information within tables using UPDATE and DELETE
Utilized Joins and Select statements to retrieve specific information from
various combinations of tables in databases and output it within tables
Java
Standard I/O using Scanner class
File I/O
Mastered usage of Iterations/Loop Controls
Created application where file read into an array, which is then searched
to find a particular name
Read numbers from file, then added or calculated averages from numbers,
writing numbers out to new output file
Used data structures, such as Stacks, Queues, and Dequeues to manipulate
information on file;
Given set of numbers, use Conditional statements to output them in
sequential order
Created application that read a sequence of numbers from file into Stack
data structure, and popped them out, so that they'd be in reverse order
Given a sequence of numbers, wrote application to output the even numbers
from that sequence in reverse order using Stack, and then every other odd
number using a Queue and Dequeue
Visual Studio C#
Utilized and programmed common Visual Studio controls in the creation of
various forms i.e. radio buttons, text boxes, labels, panels, etc.
In Bakery program, the form controls connected users to an MS Access
database. When users pressed certain controls, the query that corresponded
to that control would retrieve the information the user wanted from
database and output it to tables in a panel. For example, if the user
wanted to get the total amount a customer had spent at the bakery, they
would press the Customer totals button and get the response in the panel
Implemented controls to retrieve and manipulate information on files,
outputting results to form
Unix/Linux Environment
Unix/Linux command line
Wrote, compiled and deployed in various languages (C and Java) in
Linux/Unix environment using the Emacs editor
Created webpages and restricted the level of user access to the web pages
(utilizing chmod)
Used the qsort utility and evoked hexdumps of files
Creation and duplication of directories; navigation between different
levels of directories
Major Team Projects:
Roommate Questionnaire Application Design
HTML pages and forms
CSS
PHP
SQL
Merchandiser's Supply Application
HTML pages and forms
HTML embedded in C++
CGI technologies
