Superintendent
Permanently raised the overall elevation of seven interstate overpasses.
This included supervising the demolition of approach slabs, instruction and supervision of iron workers in the applications
for lifting the bridge structure, instruction and supervision of carpentry crews in the application of methods required to
make these changes permanent. Bridge decks, approach slabs, retaining walls, columns and abutment walls were
restructured accordingly. Responsibilities also included ensuring job site safety, logistics, creating production reports,
submitting weekly time sheets, working directly with trades, manufacturers, suppliers, state engineers, architects and
inspectors. This project was completed three weeks ahead of schedule.
This project has been my greatest challenge to date for there were no historical construction methodologies for providing
clearance under an interstate overpass by lifting the structure itself. Six of these overpasses were permanently given
16/tenths of a foot of additional clearance and one was given 14/tenths. This project was completed without accident or
incident.
