management, engineering of process units, and facility technical support in the chemical
and refining industry. Key strengths include team dynamics, interpersonal
communication skills, and exceeding client expectations.
Experience
CDI Engineering, Houston, Texas 2005 - 2009
Project Manager
• Completed a two year capital project assignment on-site at the Valero Houston
Refinery. Managed the engineering, procurement, and construction of numerous
projects totaling $15 MM TIC.
• As lead project engineer, completed the detail design engineering for a Dow $40
MM TIC project. Managed a thirty multi-discipline engineering team to
accomplish client’s engineering and construction goals.
• Completed the detail design for a $100 MM TIC Dupont rubber plant expansion
project. Worked closely with discipline engineering leads to accomplish an
extremely aggressive client schedule.
• Completed the detail design for a Dupont $ 5 MM reactor project with a rapid
implementation in the field.
Chart Energy & Chemicals, Woodlands, Texas 2004-2005
Project Engineer
• Coordinated the project engineering and design for the fabrication of brazed
aluminum heat exchangers. Worked with multi-discipline engineers and
designers to accomplish client objectives.
Reytec, Inc., Houston, Texas 2002-2004
Project Manager
• Managed capital construction projects for clients including the City of Houston,
Harris County, and the Texas Medical Center. Managed $6.0 MM in construction
capital projects. Constructed roads, bridges and storm sewers.
CDI Engineering, Baytown, Texas 1999 - 2002
Project Engineer
Provided full engineering services for the development, submittal, and execution of
capital projects. Worked in small teams as the lead project manager. Performed all
scope, safety, and construction meeting reviews. Ninety percent of projects completed
on budget and time.
• Mitigated serious operator hazards and improved product quality by installing a
mixer system for a highly explosive feed additive. This system included
automated valves, tanks, mixers and pumps.
• Improved unit production by retrofitting unit/shipping transfer lines to allow for
longer run times. This also reduced tank product transfer time from 24 hrs to
6 hrs. This $1 MM project included pumps, transfer lines, and tank conversions.
• Provided a safe work environment for railcar facility operators by retrofitting leaky
steam heated lines with electric traced lines and automating loading and
unloading of product which also included an automated vent scrubber.
• Expedited the installation of a major unit/shipping transfer pump to allow for a
$25 MM unit startup. This $150 M project allowed for an on schedule unit start-
up.
• Installed a high-pressure injection feed system to provide a safe working
environment and improve unit run time. This $750 M project included high
pressure pumps, jacketed piping and valves.
Rhodia, Houston & Baytown, Texas 1995-1999
Process Engineer
Performed all tasks to complete capital projects from concept to start up. Gathered unit
process information, developed scopes and estimates, oversaw project construction.
Worked with facility experts in a team environment to obtain excellent results.
• Constructed a $500 M liquid separation system that provided a three-month
return on investment. This system included a liquid knockout pot with automated
valves, transfer pumps and lines.
• Installed a $1.5 MM fourteen railcar loading/unloading facility that provided for all
plant acid shipments. This renovation project demolished the existing facility
and installed a new facility without any unit downtime.
• Mitigated HAZOP safety concerns and improved reactor operation by upgrading
a unit sulfur dioxide reactor. This converted a batch reactor into a continuous
reactor design that minimized the amount of reactants with the same yield.
• Implemented a storage tank level system to track product inventory for improved
production and maintenance planning. This $150 M project added level devices
to all plant tanks.
• Performed corrosion testing on atmospheric and pressure vessels according to
industry standards
