PROJECTS

DATA ACQUIZITION ON CAN PROTOCOL USING ARM PROCESSOR

Client: VXL MI

Duration: JUL 2009 - NOV 2009

Position: Consultant Engineer

Size: two

Controller Area Network (CAN) is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow

microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other within a

vehicle without a host computer. It is a message based protocol, designed

specifically for automotive applications but now also used in other areas

such as industrial automation and medical equipment. Used for communication

between ECU's (Electronic Control Units) without a dedicated computer.ARM

Processor is a 32 bit RISC processor developed by ARM limited. Due to its

excellent power saving features it has got a dominant use in embedded

systems.

In this project an embedded system was developed to get remote access of

data within Controller Area Network (CAN). This was done in order to

communicate temperature information to other nodes.

Role and responsibilities:

. Analyzed and documented requirements

. Obtained customer approval.

. Developed embedded C code and supported scheduling algorithms.

. Tested the C code for standards like MISRA, CodeCheck.

Platform: ARM based 32-bit RISC micro controller (Philips LPC2129) with

Thumb and DSP extensions and 64-bit load/store, Embedded C language.

Tools: CAN, KEIL IDE.

DIGITAL LIGHTING SOLUTION

Client: Flextech solutions, MI

Flextech solutions custom consulting and assistance in building test

systems for functional testing.

Duration: September 2008 to February 2009

Position: Consultant Engineer

Project size: Three

The emergence of white LEDs drew much attention leading to the idea of

fabricating white LEDs by mixing the three primary colors (Red, Green, and

Blue). The resulting white LEDs have a high power output, high efficiency

and are long lasting.

The aim was to produce any color of light using the concept of color mixing

of Red, Green and Blue diffused light LEDs, to be installed in a

restaurant, pub and disc. The project was implemented using DSPIC30f6010

controller and based on PWM. The module had an interactive menu accessible

using push-keys and LCD. Features included intensity control, color morph

rate control, user definable and storable colors with definable color

sequences and programs.

Role and responsibilities:

. Coding using embedded C programming

. Development of application using MPLAB

. Debugging

Platform:

DSPIC30f6010 with 512 kHz internal oscillator, 68 I/O pins, 5 * 16 bit,

2*32 bit timers, 8K bytes RAM, flash memory,8-PWM peripherals,2-UART, 2-

SPI, 1-I2C, power MOSFET IRFZ22N, red, blue, green LEDs, resistances, 16*4

lines LCD, switches.

Tools: PIClite, MPLAB IDE.

CONTROLLER BASED PULSE COUNTER

Client: Flextech solutions Inc

Duration: March 2008 to August 2008

Position: Intern

Project size: Three

Pulse counters are widely used to wirelessly transmit electric/water/gas

meter values using I/O interface. It consists of a high power radio and a

signal conditioning module. The radio is connected through a standard cable

to the signal conditioning module, providing data and power to the radio.

An object counter using proximity switch was implemented using AT89S51.

Features included alarm on time delay expiry between pair of pulses. The

delay was user settable using push-keys and count display was using Seven-

Segments.

Role and responsibilities:

. Embedded C language coding

. Development of application using KEIL IDE

. Testing and verification

Platform: Embedded C programming, 8051 based Full Static CMOS controller

with three-level Program Memory Lock, 32 I/O lines, 2 Timers/Counters, 6

Interrupts Sources, Watchdog Timer, 2 DPTRs 4K Flash, 128 Bytes On-chip

RAM, seven-segments, micro-switches, LED, opto-coupler 4N35, relay,

resistances, transistor,metallic sensor.

Tools: Keil uVision3 tool.

AUTOMATIC POWER EQUALIZATION

Client: Navyug Electric Motors Ltd

Navyug is an independent company with machines / tools, measuring

instruments and testing facilities to manufacture the products in

accordance with national and international standards.

Duration: January 2006 to August 2007

Position: Consultant engineer

Size: Four

The aim of this project was to automate the power equalization problem

during ADD/DROP, MUX/DEMUX and amplification to eliminate/minimize the

manual intervention. It was achieved by distributed software, which

monitors all the related data per channel and attenuates per channel.

Role and responsibilities:

. Focused on Optical Performance Monitoring (OPM).

. Accumulation, analysis, processing and storage of all the data and

passing this information to the node controller periodically.

. Configuration management, database management, PM processing

conformity with GR-253, flash handling.

. SNMP interface, TRAP/ALARM handling.

. User interface and applications.

. Design and Implementation.

. Close interaction with the NMS, Marketing group and system

architecture group to maintain the conformity of GR and various

requirements.

Platform: m68k, Legacy Proprietary RTOS.

Tools: Keil uVision3 tool.
