Duties:
- Lead architect of the Enterprise/MSP class security manager,
NetScreen Global Pro Policy Manager 3.0/4.0, a JAVA based,
scaleable, reliable, easy-to-use management system used to
configure all of NetScreen's firewall/VPN products. First release
was completed with ~6 man years of development and QA.

Lead Architect and Manager, VPNmanager 3.0 2/1998 - 7/2000
Duties:
- Responsible for the overall design and creation of VPNet's 3rd
generation VPNmanager product. VPNmanager is a fully pluggable,
LDAP enabled, java standalone application used to configure and
monitor virtual private network security policies on VPNet and 3rd
party devices. Version 3.0 of VPNmanager was delivered to the
markerplace in March 2000.
- Researched and documented the short and long term market
requirements for VPNmanager 3.0.
- Innovated and documented the VPNmanager 3.0 architecture.
- Built and managed a team of 6 Engineers. My responsibilities
included evaluating and hiring Engineering talent, breaking up the
architecture into manageable components that could be handed off,
and working with the team to provide delivery schedules.
- Developed and documented VCOM (VPNet Common Object Model),
VPNmanager's LDAP schema.
- Led the GUI Design and full documentation of all graphical user
interfaces prior to implementation.
- Designed, coded, and tested VPNmanager 3.0 java modules associated
with LDAP server access, VCOM, role based management, and manager
to device protocol communication.
- Evangelized VPNmanager 3.0 and VPNet's network management strategy
with current and potential customers.
- Represented the entire Engineering organization on the senior staff
during a 10 week transitional period where VPNet was without a VP
of Engineering.
Senior Software Developer 11/1996 - 2/1998
Duties:
- Designed, coded, and tested VPNet's RADIUS interoperability
solution within the embedded system.
- Architected VPNet's Client Configuration Download (CCD) protocol to
dynamically and securely download vpn configuration across the
Internet. Implemented the C/C++ code for the SSL layer in the
Microsoft Windows client.
- Traveled to customer sites to debug and solve complex embedded
system problems on the fly in live networks.
- Designed, coded, and tested VPNet's Network Address Translation
(NAT) solution in the embedded system including a solution that
provided for NAT over IPSec tunnels.
- Architected VPNet's packet filtering solution.
- Designed, coded, and tested VPNet's dynamic VPN solution that
dramatically improves configuration scalability by removing
configuration for remote access users off the flash.

Duties: Leader of a team of 5 Engineers. Responsible for the object
oriented design and java development of an application geared
towards company-wide installation, licensing, and software
distribution. Leader of the object oriented analysis meeting.
Liaison between the San Jose and Provo teams.
Integration Test/Development Project Lead 9/1995 - 3/1996
Duties: Led a team of 5 people to accomplish the integration test of
the MultiProtocol Router, NetWare Connect, and NFS product bundles.
Made assignments and schedules, attended core meetings, performed as
technical lead assisting in the design of the test bed and ordering
of necessary equipment. In a dual role, I lead a team of 3 people
and was responsible for the design of the installation/configuration
components of the bundle.
Development Engineer 9/1993 - 8/1995
Duties: Design, develop, and maintain features in the MultiProtocol
Router filtering front end and middleware, installation, and main
configuration console.
Integration Test Engineer 1/1993 - 8/1993
Duties: Focus on automation geared toward the integration of the
MultiProtocol Router product. Major accomplishments were the
development of two tools, Rinstall and Automake, which made the
integration of the product more efficient.
Test Automation Engineer 7/1992 - 12/1992
Duties: Automate tests to find bugs in the front end of the
MultiProtocol Router. Automatically generate reports.
