Vice President, Controller-CFO, DB Global Processing Services; Business
Area Controller for Personal & Corporate Banking (1997- 2007)
Managed successfully the DB Controller functions for the Americas Personal
& Corporate Banking (Check Processing, Accounts Services, Liquidity, High
Value Payments, IT Application Development) and COO business lines. As
Global CFO and Controller for DB, managed $60M budget for Global Processing
Services Operations and IT departments. Self starter for implementation of
new processes due to dissolution of joint venture.
Implemented new month end closing procedures and created first full year
forecast model at DB Global Processing Services within one month after
joining the organization. Created annual budget within one month after
full year forecast. (DB Global Processing Services was formerly part of a
joint venture with First Fidelity, dissolving in 1996).
Directly managed full year forecast and annual budgets of all Operations/IT
and telecom software, hardware, equipment leases and related maintenance
contracts. Negotiated jointly with Operations/IT vendor contracts.
Centralized all assets in the fixed asset ledger to be accurately assigned
to the products they supported.
Created/monitored annual capital plans and their related expense impact to
reflect timing of IT projects; partnered with IT Department and Project
Management for timing of spending.
Prepared Cash Flow and related financial impact schedules for outsourcing
of the Check/Lockbox products to EDS in 2002 (estimated project ROI of 24%
or $10 million) and in sourcing of Check products in 2006. Successfully
outsourced functions supporting the front office initiative to expand to a
national platform.
6. Prepared ad hoc financial and related headcount impact schedules for
Operations/Front Office initiatives including Check 21 Reengineering
Strategy. Projected savings are: 44% in RTB expenses over 6 years, 49%
in headcount, 51% in operating costs for premises, 35% positions to be
migrated overseas, 70% in transportation costs.
7. Prepared, presented and led interactive discussions for "Cost Summits"
at DB Global Processing Services. Outcome resulted in clarity of product
profitability including activity based costing drivers. Participants
included Sales, Product Management, Operations and IT.
Prepared over 10 Investment proposals including cost benefit analyses for
approval by Investment Governance; topics included New Business and Product
expansion, Infrastructure upgrades for Image Archive/Y2K/ DRP, and Real
Estate Space Renovation Investment Proposals.
Provided expense projections for P& L Profitability study for all DB/GPS
Products & Services; facilitated financial objectives of the Product
Advocacy Teams in conjunction with Check Operations/Accounts Services
Strategies.
Prepared and developed Capacity Model for 3 functional workflows in Global
High Value Payments; Models were implemented globally to verify levels of
headcount based on current volume levels.
Managed financial activities for Americas Personal & Corporate Banking
(P&CB)/COO including Monthly Flash, Accruals, Full Year Forecast and Annual
Budget Plan.
Created accounting processes and related templates as Business Area
Controller for Personal and Corporate Banking for month end closings.
Processes were successfully outsourced to smart-source location in Deutsche
Bank; templates were implemented across multiple franchises within the
