Supply Chain Leader – Strategic Planning & Implementation Mgr – Keen Negotiator

Results driven Materials Manager experienced in developing and implementing a fully operational supply chain

solution in the most difficult situations. Proven visionary and expert in strategic sourcing demonstrated by developing

and directing a new enterprise for Sony Electronics as Director of IT Procurement Worldwide. Keen negotiator

personally met and negotiated with Bill Gates at Microsoft establishing a world-wide enterprise agreement saving the

company over 5 million dollars per year. Earned the “General Managers Award for Excellence” while at Raytheon by

improving the overall reputation of the department. My accomplishments included: instituting cross functional

management meetings to understand the needs of the departments, developed supplier metrics, and instituting a

Supplier Symposium for vendor feedback and recommendations, enabling the suppliers to fully feel part of the “supply

chain”. Successful in reducing cost and increasing profitability in large scale multi-billion dollar operations and

manufacturing environments with corporations such as Raytheon, BAE Systems and Sony Electronics.

CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

BAE Systems, Wayne, NJ (2003- present)

• Lead the Subcontract team for the LINK 16 Line of Business for a top 10 Contractor for the Department of

the Defense. Budget in excess of 250 million dollars.

• Implemented across several divisions an Oracle based ERP system. Established as a hands on expert

attaining a super user status. Replacing the companies’ legacy BAAN system resulting in smoother

coordination between divisions.

• Established metrics for monitoring supplier’s performance using Earned Value techniques. Measure vendor

by CPI (Cost Performance Indicators) and SPI (Schedule Performance Indicators) as well as EWI’s (Early

Warning Indicators) monthly in anticipation of potential problems.

• Worked with a cross functional team to win a 350 million dollar contract from Slovakia for a communications

system to meet NATO requirements. Developed several key suppliers in Slovakia to meet offset requirements.

• Lead the subcontract efforts of a consortium with BAE Systems, Rockwell Collins and ViaSat on the

Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS JTRS) to allow foreign country participation in the

MIDS JTRS System. Placed subcontract for 15 million dollars to both a Spanish company, INDRA and a

French Company named Thales to allow them access the data package being developed under this DOD

contract.

Rudolph Technologies, Inc. Flanders, NJ (1999 – 2003)

• Managed the Procurement/Material functions for a manufacturer of test equipment for the semi-conductor

industry.

• Developed an outsourcing program to help reduce inventory resulting in over $1,000,000 in cost savings.

• Manage over 40 people and a budget of over 20 million per year.

• Convinced key suppliers to carry safety stock to meet challenging schedules and allow JIT delivery.

• Reduced supplier base from over 5000 suppliers to 400suppliers with 50 marked as key suppliers who

supplied over 90% of the material.

Sony Electronics, Woodcliff lakes, NJ (1997-1999)

• Directed a new start up procurement group (Global Information Technology) for Sony. Hired regional

managers for the 4 main continents and developed a strategic plan to organize all IT Procurement under a

single control.

• Saved the company over 5 million dollars a year on Microsoft alone by cumulating the licenses and

formulating an enterprise agreement worldwide.

• Set standards for IT needs which allowed us to negotiate with Dell a large agreement for computer needs

including desktop and laptops. Estimated savings of $1,000,000 the first year.

• Was asked by the CIO of Sony, Mr. Kubota, to present my Strategic Global Procurement Plan to the Board of

Directors at Sony as a possible avenue for cost savings with their general procurement group.

• Headed a Emerging Technology Cross Functional Team to look at E-Procurement Solutions

Raytheon/Hughes/Magnavox (1989-1997)

• Managed and Directed the Purchasing & Materials Department of a government subcontractor for night

vision cameras.

• Rewrote the Purchasing Manual and Procedures for the division.

• Became a certified “World Wide Purchasing” instructor while owned by Hughes Aircraft.

• Led an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to pass an ISO 2000 audit and received certification.

• Passed 7 straight years a USG audit on the Procurement System – CPSR (Contractor Purchasing System

Review)

Plessey Dynamics, Whippany, NJ (1984-1989)

• Managed the Purchasing and Subcontracts Departments for a manufacturer of actuators for the Aerospace

Industry.

• Authored a Corporate Purchasing Manual

• Implemented a new MRP system using Oracle as the backbone.

• Reduced sole source items by working with Engineering to minimize release of directed drawings.

• Performed successful cost analysis on several sole source items resulting in the USG approving our

Purchasing System (CPSR)
