Thesis - Comparison of cooling performance of overhead and underfloor

supply with rear door heat exchanger in high density Data Center

clusters.

The research focused on issue of cooling (providing adequate chilled

flow) and thermal management to reduce the heat load generated in high

density data center clusters. CFD software Icepak was used in the

analysis.

Academic Projects:

Purge hole optimization

This project aimed at minimizing the stresses at the purge (bolt & cooling)

holes on the blades of a gas turbine by optimizing the design parameter of

the purge-hole model. The objective was to minimize equivalent stress

distribution between the cooling hole and bolt hole, by creating parameter

macros for modeling, meshing, solving and analyzing the model using Ansys.

Large deformation analysis of a plate

The project aimed at analyzing displacement of a cantilever plate.

The deformation was analyzed using nonlinear geometry analysis in Ansys

Temperature distribution in a cylinder

The project aimed to compute the temperature distribution in a long steel

cylinder with internal temperature and exterior convection. The temperature

distribution was analyzed using Ansys.

Cooling Technologies for Graphic Cards

Project involved modeling in Pro-E and analysis in Ansys Workbench.

Meshing, optimization using Ansys Workbench to find optimum heat transfer

co-efficient for the given model thereby keeping junction temperature below

specific limit. Proposed various efficient cooling technologies from the

achieved data.

Thermal Conduction Module (TCM)

This project involved modeling of TCM in Ansys Workbench. The design

provides heat sink cooling of electronic chip with 300 W powers.

Computer Skills:

. Operating Systems Windows 9x/XP/NT, Mac, Linux.

. Programming Languages C, C++, MATLAB.

. CAD/CAE Tools Nisa, Ansys, Ansys Workbench, AutoCAD,

Pro-E, CATIA,

SolidWorks, Fluent.

. CFD Tools Icepak, Flotherm.
