Chelsea Proving Grounds - Chelsea, Michigan
Positions involved numerous duties of increasing responsibility,
joined the ITPI Department as Test Assurance Engineer, was promoted
to ATD Lab Engineer and then Technical Specialist. Managed the
operations of the Chelsea Proving Grounds Anthropomorphic Test
Device (ATD) Laboratory. Supervised the lab activities of several
engineers, including performance reviews. Coordinated the
preparation of ATD's to coincide with an aggressive full scale
barrier, HYGE sled, and component impact testing program. Evaluated
and processed ATD instrumentation (including accelerometers,
potentiometers, load cells, and data acquisition equipment) as
required for each specific test. Team leader for ATD Lab Special
Project activities. Performed post-test review to ensure occupant
data integrity.
Accomplishments:
Maintained and directed a $5M dollar lab hardware inventory.
ATD Lab achieved 100% compliance w/engineering product team release
deadlines with often intensive testing schedules.
Attained highest level promotion (Grade Band 93 Technical
Specialist) at Chelsea PG.
Insured that various product team engineering groups were receiving
100 percent verified occupant crash test data by which to make
critical vehicle engineering design decisions.
Synergized single and dual-shift lab & maintenance operations
(w/six technicians and two mechanics). This allowed testing
schedules to be maintained with minimal manpower.
Prepared annual ATD Lab capital projects (typically valued $300k -
$1.2M) & coordinated submission/review with engineering management

Streamlined lab verification testing process of frontal, side, and
child impact test dummies by implementing lean process
improvements. Improved turn-around time yielded significant cost
savings of thousands of dollars per crash test.
Active participant in 12 Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE),
USCAR/Occupant Safety Research Partnership (OSRP), and
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) committees
providing Chrysler with an active voice and representation in the
design & development of new ATD's & safety systems (committees

Ensured that the lab stayed current with newly imposed regulatory
