Center for Earthquake Engineering Simulation

Research Engineer

Member of a team that conducts analytical, experimental and multidisciplinary

research within and outside of earthquake engineering. Facility is part of the

Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation.

Operated and troubleshot the Earthquake Simulation machinery (centrifuge) while

conducting experiments.

Gained hands-on experience by preparing and sealing centrifuge laminar

container with Ph.D. students while using strain gages, acelerometer, and

pressure sensors.

Senior Capstone Project-GE Purge Team Member Jan 09-May

Instrumentation 09

GE uses air for calibration of purge taps within a steam turbine. In order to

check the accuracy of using air for calibration, the project requirement was

to compare Cp. vs. Mach curve of superheated, desuperheated and saturated

steam.

The team designed, manufactured, and tested a water injector in the steam

turbine testing rig to achieve the company's deliverables with the help of

LabVIEW, a visual programming language. The results verified whether the water

droplets had any effect on Cp. vs. Mach number graphs.

Received Six Sigma Green Belt Certification on a report that analyzed on-time

project execution of numerous cost-out engineering teams such as Wind, Gas

Turbine, Steam Turbine, Jenbacher, Nuclear, etc. The data was extracted from

an online project management tool, which included hundreds of cost-out

engineering projects. The report was controlled by creating a semi-automatic

process that reduced cycle time from sixteen hours to fifteen minutes.
