Design Experience:
Mechanical Engineering:
. Designed and performed FEA analysis on pressure vessel
containments for FCE's Megawatt and Submegawatt class power
plants
. Developed cost reduced design in accordance with ASME
Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Div. 2 resulting
in 25% reduction in component cost.
Product Engineer:
. Designed, performed feasibility studies, and managed the
design effort of modifications required for custom designed
power plant installations.
. Designed a portable fuel desulferization system for
changing desulferizer media while out plant shutdown.
. Improved product reliability for first and second
generation power plants resulted in greater than 90%
availability.
Project Management:
Program Manager:
. Lead fuel cell power plant cost reduction redesign project
resulting in 10% reduction in product cost.
. Managed 1.3 million dollar budget allotted for product
redesign.
. Directed the efforts of designers, mechanical, electrical
and process engineers to implement cost reduced designs
into the product and determine root causes of equipment
failures to improve product reliability.
Engineering Supervisor - Maintenance Management:
. Managed the implementation of Datastream's D7i
computerized maintenance management software system
servicing FCE's Field Service organization and
Testing/Conditioning facilities. This included managing
the implementation schedule, designing the work flow,
configuring the system, writing the training materials
and conducting the training for all users.
. Supervised the setup and implementation of the MP2
maintenance management system, and managed workflow for a
20+ building campus.
. Joint Manufacturing Safety Committee Chairman: - Lead
multi-departmental team (consisting of representatives
from solid dosage, packaging, maintenance, etc) in the
identification and resolution of plant-wide safety issues
resulting in the reduction of the total recordable
incident rate (TRIR).
. Cost Center Supervisor - managed $500,000 budget.
Work Planning:
. Assisted in supervising contracted production labor and
acted as the liaison between FCE and the subcontractors.
. Established consumable bulk stock inventory for fuel cell
integration facility
Power Plant Operations and Maintenance:
Facility Operations Manager:
. Managed Facility Operations and Maintenance Departments
providing service to 1.5 million square feet spread over 7
facilities which include research laboratories, clinical
research facilities, state of the art robotic sample
storage facilities, datacenter, executive office
facilities, and 2 day care facilities.
. Managed and maintained ~6 million dollar budget for the 7
sites.
. Implemented several cost savings initiatives equating to
~$190,000 annual savings.
. Converted all service contracts from Pfizer to Jones Lang
Lasalle over the first year in transition to outsourced
maintenance management.
Fuel Cell Conditioning Plant Operator:
. Instrumental in the commissioning of FCE's megawatt fuel
cell testing and conditioning facility.
Engineroom Supervisor:
. Supervised the operation of mechanical systems associated
with the S5W and S8G US Naval nuclear power plants
including steam turbines, steam and condensate systems,
distillation and water purification systems, LiBr and
vapor compression cycle A/C Systems. Awarded a grade of
'Excellent' on ship's Operational Reactor Safeguards
Examination (ORSE).
. Rebuilt ships emergency diesel generator - Awarded Navy
Achievement Medal
Utility Plant Operations:
. Operated of Central Utilities Plant and all support systems
supplying heating and A/C to a 20+ building R&D and
Manufacturing facility.
. Utilities provided: 140,000 lb/hr steam generating
capacity, and 5500 ton (predominately ammonia)
refrigeration capacity, RO and demineralized water
treatment systems, chemical treatment systems.
. Trained to operate the Siemens and Honeywell building
automation and boiler control systems used to maintain
strict environmental control of the production, research,
and product storage facilities.
. Wrote New Operator Training / Qualification guide for
systems servicing the 20+ building campus.
Radiological Controls Shift Supervisor Operator:
. Radioactive liquid waste system, radioactive laundry
system, RAM waste press and liquid solidification
processes.
. Wrote nuclear work procedures for the disassembly of
radioactive storage tanks upon decommissioning of the USS
Canopus (AS-34)
Millwright Technician:
. Executed a broad range of tasks required to maintain the
reliability of pharmaceutical production facilities and
equipment in accordance with current Good Manufacturing
Practices (cGMP).
. Tasks included mechanical systems and equipment
troubleshooting and repair, facilities and production
equipment preventative maintenance, design and
installation of safety guarding on production equipment,
facility refurbishment, pipe fitting, welding, wood work,
painting, etc.
. Certified Universal Refrigeration Technician by ARI
and EPA,
. Certified Medical System Grade Brazer
. Certified Medical Response Technician (MRT).
