Senior Group Underwriting Analyst
Summary of Experience:
As a Senior Group Underwriting Analyst for nine years, I provided accurate
and timely delivery of all group program account renewals and strategies
for all prospective and alternative financial arrangement accounts which
were consistent with corporate directions and financial goals. While
providing technical direction on bids and formal Request for Proposals, I
was also responsible for making adjustments in formula rates and
recommendations for rate adjustments, including negotiating account
renewals with Sales Representatives and supporting their efforts with
clients. I also trained new hires within the Underwriting Department and
assumed a lead role and direct involvement in department projects,
including new product introductions, rating methodologies, and systems
support.
While employed as a Health and Welfare Consultant for more than 13 years, I
assisted clients in the overall management of their health and welfare
programs, including the entire marketing efforts, carrier selection,
financial negotiations, communication needs and renewal processes for all
group products. I also developed and implemented internal controls,
processes, systems and procedures, while allocating resources, assigning
daily case loads, led department meetings, educational workshops and
trained HR specialists to conduct annual enrollment meetings, as well as
managing a staff of Associates.
As the Communications Practice Leader, I consulted with clients to provide
customized employee benefit communication material for annual enrollments
(online enrollment, brochures, home mailings, DVDs, enrollment guides,
etc), ongoing wellness programs, monthly newsletters, online employee
surveys, led employee focus groups and provided communication expertise on
a variety of subject areas including: all health and welfare benefit
programs, change management, complex communication plans, internal
branding, program launches, and mergers/acquisitions. As part of the
vendor management process, I was responsible for the negotiation of annual
rates, design and implementation of new/revised programs, coordination of
all HRIS/payroll systems updates, ongoing monthly vendor bill audits and
vendor payments, and the ongoing administration of all group programs
(domestic and international), while managing a team of Associates who
assisted employees with questions and vendor issues to insure that all
aspects of the health and welfare programs added quality and value which
resulted in increased consumerism and program knowledge.
