Masters Thesis: Image Broadcast in Vehicular Adhoc networks (VANETs):

December 2007

A feasibility study using JPEG2000 with unequal error protection

Investigated use of images in VANETs for safety applications. Established

simulation environment for image broadcast by packetizing within a highway

traffic, whereby infrastructure points along the highway collect data

disseminated by the vehicles traveling along the highway. Utilized

performance metrics including image quality, packet latency and packet

delivery ration for a variety of vehicular traffic densities. Image

reconstructed by progressive image reconstruction using JPEG2000; coded

packets using Reed Solomon codes.
