. Senior Business Analyst / Manager, Application Development (January 2001
- September 2008)
Lead team effort to determine business and software requirements to
enhance and maintain Agency Management System. Managed team of up to six
programmer/analysts in implementing and supporting software solutions,
including business processing rules, workflow management, CRM, document
generation,
and reporting for operations, sales, marketing, accounting and general BI
needs..
o Directed upgrade of business rules, rating calculations, and policy
certificates for a professional liability product, affecting 12,000
policies in 13 states and $50 million in premium. Upgrade completed
before the insurance carrier completed its own updates, helping
negotiations that netted a 0.5% commission increase.
o Analyzed, designed, helped code, and coordinated the IT portion of a
precipitously approved project to add an optional feature to a life
product. Completed in the four-weeks before invoices were generated;
produced $40,000 in recurring revenue; No additional staff needed to
process the 8,000 plus responses.
o Developed extensive knowledge of Professional Liability, Workers Comp,
Life, and DI products, with broad expertise in insurance policy
management, underwriting systems, and premium/rating calculations.
o Improved department productivity by cross-training staff to handle
business and system analysis for all application components. Followed
OOP / OOD principals in SQL 2005, VB6, and C# / .NET languages.
o Provided business intelligence reports, data extracts, and data
analysis for 8 years of policy records that included coverage, payment
and claims data. Project allowed the company to successfully market
and transfer a major book of business to a new insurance carrier,
while maintaining relations with largest client.

Primary IT analyst and liaison between developer of third-party Agency
Management System and business users. Added VB5/6 & SQL tasks when in-
house development of new Agency Management System commenced.
o Led an ETL (Extract, Transform, & Load) project that transferred
records from a black box third-party system with minimal documentation
to an evolving, internally developed replacement system. Completed the
project by a very hard, go-live date, and helped prevent a major
lawsuit for breach of contract.
o Performed business and system analysis and championed upgrade of
company's renewal premium invoicing system (used to generate over
250,000 invoices annually). Simplified and consolidated procedures
enabling business users to create and produce invoices without
involvement of IT staff.

Corporation, an ESOP company with over $20 million in revenue, and 150
employees in four cities.
o Gave quarterly presentations to Board and staff. Involved in all

and funding two startups. Also participated in the removal and
