Responsibilities for $600M international manufacturer of rubber processing
chemicals involved oversight and support of SHE operations at plants in
North America, South America, and Malaysia.
. Developed and implemented worldwide safety programs that reduced the
injury/accident rate by 30%
. Championed and led ESH steering team for Flexsys worldwide
. Responsible for developing and implementing global corporate ESH
programs, including the new responsible care initiative, industrial
hygiene, employee wellness, security, product stewardship, and waste-
minimization.
. Consulted and advised senior management regarding safety, health,
transport, security, and environmental business driven issues.
. Coached, mentored, and motivated site ESH managers/professionals

. Led the ESH efforts for construction and startup of new manufacturing
facility in Malaysia.
Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality Assurance Manager (1994 - 1997)
Member of the plant management team and responsible for all activities
associated with ESH and quality assurance operations. Specifically
responsible for ESH, training, plant emergency response and quality
programs. Supervised 10 employees and managed a $2M budget.
. Served as team member on global ESH steering committee and led an ESH
worldwide focus group.
. Successfully completed three-month OSHA process safety management
inspection resulting in minimal fines
. Created new ESH organization bringing together two different cultures
during the formation of Flexsys America, LP. Acted as facility liaison in
all ESH affairs with regulatory agencies, government authorities,
manufacturing location community, and industrial and professional
associations.

. Directly involved with the following environmental activities at the
facility: NPDES reporting and permitting, Title V, CERCLA reporting,
remedial activities under RCRA and CERCLA, RCRA permitting as a hazardous
generator and BIF, SARA 313 TRI reporting, EPA and State
Inspections, MSDSs, ISO 14001, installation of a
new sewer system. Supervised those individuals who had environmental
activities that were responsible for the Clean Air Act, Risk Management,
UST removal, scrubber installation for opacity, upgrading of dikes, and
RMP.
. Directly involved and managed with the following safety activities at the
facility: communications skills for emergencies, security, emergency
response drills and training, Process Safety Management, OSHA trained,
ergonomics, led site safety committees including union labor and
management, HAZWOPER trained, auditing, behavior based system
implementation, member of ACC, and OSHA reporting and record keeping.

Responsible for leading team of eight on an ESH re-design project to
implement OSHA's process safety management standard and EPA's risk
management program. Supervised four employees and managed a $1M budget.
. Successfully negotiated site remedial actions resulting in savings of
approximately $1M under RCRA corrective action.
. Successfully negotiated the use of mixing zones for NPDES permit
resulting in an annual savings of $2M in operating costs.

Responsible for ensuring process control was maintained for a reactive
chemical process and waste water treatment facility. Served as the lead
project manager of a superfund site.
. Implemented product reformulation, flow process upgrading, and product
