EXPERIENCE
Jan. 2005-August 2009 MANHATTAN CONSTRUCTION, Falls Church, VA -
Superintendent
NASA Space Exploration Building, Greenbelt, MD (Jan. 2009 to
Present): $45M three story office/laboratory building
including laboratories that were constructed to a Level 4
clean room rating.
* Authorize all subcontractors pay applications.
* Conduct daily inspections and review of entire
jobsite with NASA's architectural and MEP
representatives.
* Conduct in-wall inspections, hard ceiling
inspections, prefinish inspections,
ceiling inspections as well as final inspections.
* Oversee all finish work, including ceilings,
flooring, casework and all MEP trim-out.
* Ensure that the contractors complete work to
specifications and are on-time.
Riffort Renaissance Resort, Curacao, Lesser Antilles (July 2007-Jan.
2009): $46M, 10 acre resort with 4 story hotel (250,000 sq
ft), 240 guest rooms, dining, casino and retail space, 5
story garage with multi screen cinema and retail space and
manmade tropical fresh and saltwater infinity pools.
* Primarily responsible for bringing the main hotel
from concrete structure to completion. Oversaw all
facets of hotel construction.
* Interfaced with customs on an as needed basis to ensure that
all construction materials were on
jobsite when required.
* Responsible for updating schedule each week with an
outside consultant to ensure proper documentation.
* Participated in owner and subcontractor meetings.
* Forecast work in-place projections.
The Vistas on the James Condominium Complex, Richmond, VA (April 2007-
July 2007): $36M, 350,000 sq ft luxury condominium project
located on the historic James River in Richmond, VA with 12
levels of residential condominiums, 5 levels of garage
space, a fitness center, and retail space located in
downtown Richmond.
* Authorize all subcontractors pay applications
* Conducted in-wall inspections, hard ceiling
inspections, prefinish inspections,
ceiling inspections as well as final inspections.
* Oversaw all finish work, including ceilings,
flooring, casework and all MEP trim-out.
* Ensured that the contractors completed work to
specifications and were on-time.
U.S Capitol Building, Capitol Visitor's Center, Washington
DC (Jan.2005-April 2007): $600M Project encompassing a new
Capitol Visitor's Center requiring a 750 foot utility
tunnel for which I had sole responsibility.
* Relocate major utility lines under 100 year old
streets, connecting the US Capitol, US Supreme
Court, etc. and integrate them into existing utility
lines in preparation of the new Capitol Visitor's
Center. Many of the old lines were not on existing
blueprints:
. 36" water mains (Required coordination with
WASA)
. 24" gas lines
. Verizon Cable telephone and communication lines
. Fire Hydrant Installation (Required
coordination with the Architect of the Capital
(AOC) Fire Marshall)
* This included:
. New site utility work, including, but not
limited to, connecting the main fire alarm
system and water source to the Capitol
Visitor's Building.
. Excavation
. Setting Pilings and lagging
. Coordinating work with the Architect of the
Capital (AOC), Supreme Court, Library of
Congress and Capitol Police including, but not
limited to, designing new car traffic patterns
and pedestrian traffic flows.
May 2004 - Jan. 2005 TURNER CONSTRUCTION, Arlington, VA, Project
Superintendent
INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, Falls Church, VA - 5 story
hospital complex renovation.
* Managed all of the remodel construction, scheduling
and paperwork of this project.
* Authorized all subcontractors pay applications
* Updated schedule weekly
* Chaired all owners meetings
* Forecast work in-place projections
* Managed the assistant superintendent and the office
engineer as well as coordinated with a
superintendent from a joint venture
* Communicated daily with hospital staff and their
engineering departments, communicating work
schedules, shut-downs, overnight work, etc.
Dec. 1999 - April 2004 CENTEX-RODGERS, Nashville, TN - Superintendent
Reston Hospital and Arlington Hospital, VA (April 2003-
April 2004): Responsible for the quality control facet of
these new build projects. Regularly oversaw all contractor
work ensuring that state and local codes were met as well
as ensuring that the work met or exceeded Centex-Rodgers
high expectations. This included:
* Created a recovery schedule for a project that was
not meeting the end-date for the hospital.
* Conducted in-wall inspections, hard ceiling
inspections, prefinish inspections, ceiling
inspections as well as final inspections.
* Oversaw all finish work, including ceilings,
flooring, casework and all MEP trim-out.
* Ensured that the contractors completed work to
specifications and were on-time.
Gonda Building, Mayo Medical Center, Rochester, MN (July 2000-April
2003): Responsible for the quality control portion of this
$300+ million dollar project. Regularly oversaw all
contractor work ensuring state and local codes were met as
well as ensuring that the work met or exceeded Centex-
Rodgers expectations. This included:
* In-wall inspections, hard ceiling inspections,
prefinish inspections, ceiling
inspections, as well as final inspections.
* Regularly met with city building inspector to review
work and obtain TCO.
* Oversaw the building of all of the major equipment
rooms in the Gonda building including MRI,
CatScan and angiography. Scheduled all work and
installation of equipment requiring interfacing with
Mayo and equipment representatives ensuring that work
was completed according to specifications and that
all deadlines were met.
* Led the Safety Committee which entailed weekly walks
through the job site, noting any
potentially hazardous work conditions, noting them,
and then followed-up to ensure compliance.
Compiled and disseminated weekly report of any
violations.
* Mentored interns and new assistant superintendents
to instruct them in the methods and
procedures used on this job site. Oversaw the work
performed by other assistant superintendents.
* Oversaw the clerical assistant, delegating tasks and
follow-up to ensure completion
Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, MA (Dec. 1999-July
2000): $250M, 700,000 square foot medical facility.
* Oversaw all subcontractors ensuring that all work was done
properly and on schedule
* Responsible for inspection and follow-up of all
punchlist items to ensure a completion date three
months ahead of schedule
