• Presently serving as Vice President of NC Challengers, Inc., a 501c(3) organization
dedicated to using sports as a vehicle to provide post secondary education opportunities for girls.
We focus on fast pitch softball. I have responsibility for strategic direction and corporate
compliance.
• Developing tool for identifying waters of the United States for water pollutant discharge
permit situations.
• Coordinating environmental due diligence for syn fuel asset monetization projects.

Sentencing Act guidelines designed to ensure personal and corporate accountability for legal
requirements including insider trading, foreign corrupt practices and environmental law .
Compliance with the program entitled the company to preferential treatment under the sentencing
act.
• Law counsel for a major natural resource damages action enabling Conoco to avoid
government litigation. The litigation would have resulted in more than 1 million dollars in legal
fees and potential government costs and penalties.
• Co chairing multi hundred million dollar superfund project Steering Committee.
Negotiated settlement with the federal government and State of California; managed cost recovery
litigation from over fifteen thousand non participating PRPs. Saved several million dollars.
• Law counsel for Brownfield’s redevelopment project in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In 1999, I
worked with business developers to dispose of non revenue generating asphalt operation and
generated $1,000,000 in revenue from selling environmentally distressed property that had been a
tax pit for several years. The site is now a productive commercial property.
• Successfully defending Oil Pollution Act case brought by the Coast Guard Company did
not pay a penalty nor reimbursement of five million dollars of government claimed project costs.
• Successfully challenging an EPA, Clean Water Act, general permit that had a significant
negative economic impact on Gulf of Mexico exploration and production operations. EPA
rescinded permit and reissued a modified version reflecting our demands for less costly toxicity
dispersion factors.
• Successfully challenging U. S. Department of Transportation methodology for determining
violations of naturally occurring radioactive materials regulations. American Petroleum Institute
adopted and endorsed a defense used by other companies in the industry. As a result DOT may not
use Geiger counters as an enforcement tool.
• Serving as president of Conoco Network Group and received 1999 President ’s Award for
Valuing All People. Pictured and quoted in 1999 Annual Report for developing programs that
enhanced corporate image in the community, and improved minority employee development.
• Resolving conflict involving U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Pipeline Safety
and Coast Guard regulations implementing The International Convention for the Prevention of
Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). The resolution saved offshore oil and gas industry operators
millions of dollars in maintenance costs and potential civil penalties.
• Serving as Advisory Board Member of Texas Lawyers and Accounts for the Arts. The
organization provided legal and accounting advice for members of the Texas Arts community.
• Managing defenses against claims relating to releases of PCBs and other hazardous
substances along natural gas pipeline systems Interviewed, hired, directed, and coordinated
activities of lawyers in ten states and the District of Columbia. Managed legal defenses against
claims by the U.S. Department of Justice, various states, and numerous private parties. Many
claims negotiated so that the company paid no civil penalties or compensatory damages.
• Representing Tenneco Inc. on the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Work
Group on Environmental Justice. Assisted in developing NAM national policy on Environmental
Justice. This policy addressed corporate responses to claims alleging Environmental Justice, and
other race based challenges to industrial facility siting decisions.
• Drafting testimony that allowed Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company to include its PCB
remediation related costs as prudent charges in its rate case before the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission. PCB related clean up costs exceeded millions that would have been taken from the
company’s bottom line unless determined prudently incurred by the FERC.
• Organizing and developing environmental due diligence review programs that contributed
to successful bid on natural gas pipeline projects in Australia and South America. Working with
others to direct the activities of foreign and domestic experts conducting investigative work in
Australia, Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru.
• Working with other counsel to resolve company’s environmental liability insurance claims.
Company was able to cash out policies and recover millions of dollars to address past, pending and
future environmental liability claims.
• Working with others to develop software and implement environmental compliance
assurance training program for all employees. This program educated thousands of employees in
more than ten states about individual responsibilities regarding environmental laws in the United
States.
• Sharing U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Bronze Medal for work done on the
Agency’s enforcement task force addressing PCB contamination of the country ’s natural gas
pipeline systems.
• Member of national task force that developed Federal Safe Drinking Water Act2’s
Underground Injection Control Program (UIC). Referred first criminal case to Department of
Justice under Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program. This resulted in higher compliance
rates by the regulated industry group.
