Professional Experience
August 2007-October 2009 Lonza, Inc. Walkersville, MD
Validation Specialist and Calibration Technician
-Worked in the Validation and Calibration departments, providing service for the entire
facility, including LAL, cell therapy, powder and liquid media production, virology, and
QC laboratories.
-Regularly performed temperature mappings, conductivity measurements, pressure
readings, gas percentage measurements, and pipette accuracy tests
using NIST traceable, calibrated standards to ensure the proper functionality and
usage of equipment throughout the laboratories, in accordance with cGMP
calibration standards.
-Researched new equipment and created master instrument records, as well as
cGMP-compliant calibration protocols, before acceptance into the existing
calibration program.
-Coordinated efforts and communication between validation, calibration, facilities,
engineering, laboratory, and production management to ease transitions to
new equipment and procedures.
-Developed, wrote, and executed validation protocols and SOPs pertaining to
incubators, waterbaths, refrigerators, freezers, dewars, autoclaves, ovens,
lyophilizers, and walk-in temperature control rooms.
-Became familiar with the operation and maintenance of Kaye validation software and
hardware, Veriteq logging equipment, iRTDs, and thermocouples, as well as the
usage and processing of BIs and ECVs, during daily validation activities.
-Provided the majority of calibration services for the large LabWatch automated
laboratory alarm system monitoring the entire facility.
-Developed a working knowledge of SAP, TrackWise, Documentum, ProCal
Database software, and the Kaye Validator 2000 interface.
-Received training in cGMP and ISO regulations and operated in such an environment on
a daily basis.
-Regularly performed activities in ISO 5 and 7 clean room environments and became
familiar with all associated protocols.
-Assisted in the training and orientation of new employees and temporary validation
contractors.
-Aided in the aseptic testing and additional environmental monitoring of new clean rooms,
including calculations to determine compliance with ISO standards, as
well as fume hood validation.
-Managed the validation library and calibration records, and reorganized the validation
database to provide an improved search method and record location time.
Summer 2006 NIST Gaithersburg, MD
Laboratory Intern
-Worked on a nanotechnology and mechanical engineering research project with sponsor
and mentor, Dr. Aaron M. Forster, in the Polymers Division of the Building and Fire
Research Laboratory.
-Performed Instrumented Indentation, Atomic Force Microscope, and Confocal
Microscope tests on thin polymer films and metals.
-Created nanoparticle latex films for testing.
Fall 2005 Gettysburg College Gettysburg, PA
Organic Lab Assistant
-Helped prepare laboratory and necessary materials to facilitate student experiments.
-Provided aid to students during experiments.
Additional Laboratory and Office Skills
-Fully capable in a chemistry or biochemistry laboratory setting, with experience in many
techniques, such as GC/MS, UV/VIS, FT-IR, Fluorescence Spectroscopy,
HPLC, Hydrogen-1 and Carbon NMR, as well as electrophoresis-based assays.
-Experience in chemical synthesis and analysis, along with the machines involved, as well
as mechanical engineering tools, such as IIT, CSM, SEM, and AFM.
-Skilled in chemical drawing and modelling programs.
-Able to speak Spanish.
