Transportation Projects
DuPage County - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - Resurfacing
program consisting of six projects through out DuPage County (2010)
Resident Engineer for the 3.4 million resurfacing program which
included the removal and replacement of pavement, traffic loops, sidewalks
and curb and gutter. This also included patching of the roadways when
necessary. Duties included managing the inspection team, coordinate
schedules and progress meetings, all layout, liaison with the county and
IDOT and all documentation (ICORS) including pay estimates, dailies and
inspection documentation from QC and QA teams. DuPage County added an
additional 100k to the project because of the great results from the
contractor and managing team.
DuPage County Pavement Maintenance Program, DuPage County and cities within
county limits. (09)
Resident Engineer on the 3.3 million dollar pavement maintenance and
resurfacing program that covered several miles and seven separate
locations. Managed the QA/QC program, inspection team, monitored schedules
and budgets and performed as the liaison for the contractor and the county.
Completed on schedule and under budget even after having issues with
utility relocations and adding extra work to the contract by performing
value engineering tactics.
CTA Emergency Exit Improvements, Chicago, Il. (08)
Construction Manager and Inspector on the eight million dollar
project encompassing concrete and steel repairs, painting, waterproofing,
lighting and plumbing repairs. Coordinating and ensuring project schedules,
shop drawings and permits were within project scopes. Duties included
inspecting and documenting daily activities, projecting schedules and
liaison with contractor and CTA. Completed this project with only a scope
for guidance of the design and specifications. Teamed with CTA on budget
and design control of this project.
Joliet Arsenal Development, BNSF Rail Facility-Joliet, IL. (02 - 03)
Project manager on the $190 million project for the BNSF Railroad
which include; multi contract administration for several utility and site
contracts being built simultaneously which included water, gas, compressed
air, all above ground as well as underground electrical, industrial waste,
bituminous paving and specialty contracts. Duties include pre-design,
specification review, code enforcement, bid review, scheduling individual
contracts to ensure completion schedule of entire project, contract
administration and management, and close out. Completed this project three
days ahead of my projected deadline.
Traffic Signal Improvements, Chicago Department of Transportation, Chicago,
Illinois (99 - 01)
Resident Engineer for the multi-contract multi-location $4.5
million intersection improvement projects. Work included the removal,
replacement and upgrades for numerous City of Chicago signalized
intersections. Duties included all construction engineering and inspection
activities, liaison with; CDOT, CBOE, the Bureau of Traffic and the
contractor & administration and documentation. These projects encompassed
three separate projects and 26 locations in every neighborhood of Chicago.
Adams Street Viaduct Rehabilitation, Chicago Department of Transportation,
Chicago, Illinois (98 - 99)
Resident Engineer for the $6 million reconstruction of the 5-lane
bridge over the Kennedy Expressway. Work included reconstruction of the
bridge deck, ramps, retaining walls, roadway safety elements and lighting.
Duties included administration and documentation of the project, all
construction engineering and inspection activities and liaison with CDOT,
IDOT and contractor
Tri-State Tollway Ramp "F" over Ramp "S" Bridge Reconstruction, Illinois
State Toll Highway Authority, Northlake, Illinois (97 - 98)
Resident Engineer for the $500k reconstruction of the ramp
bridge carrying traffic from southbound I-294 to westbound I-290. Work
included re-decking of the bridge, concrete repairs, lighting and bridge
painting. Project was selected by the IRBA as the 1997 Bridge
Rehabilitation Project of the Year. Duties included all construction
engineering and inspection activities, liaison with ISTHA and contractor &
project administration and documentation.
Lake Shore Drive Relocation Program, Chicago Department of Transportation,
Chicago, Illinois (96 - 97)
Assistant Resident Engineer for the $43 million relocation of
Lake Shore Drive around Soldier Field. The 9-month fast-track project
included the construction of 5 bridge structures, retaining walls, paving
and utilities. Duties included coordination of the field inspection team,
liaison with CDOT and inspectors, contract administration of CE&I services
(in accord with IDOT standards), supervision of QC documentation and record
keeping.

Assistant Resident Engineer for the $11 million City of Chicago
roadway improvement projects. Duties for the roadway and utility
rehabilitation projects were daily coordination with CDOT, contractor and
local businesses, construction inspection and documentation of all removal
and replacement of paving, utilities and sidewalks.
I-80 / Houbolt Road Interchange Rehabilitation, Illinois Department of
Transportation - Joliet, Illinois (92 - 93)
Resident Engineer for the $12.5 million demolition and
reconstruction of 2 bridges, roadway and ramps for the expressway
interchange. Duties included supervised and coordinated engineering
inspection, layout and documentation, troubleshooting project deficiencies,
coordination of work with contractors, documentation of project in accord
with IDOT procedures
I-294 - 95th Street Interchange, Mainline Roadway 95th to 88th Avenue,
Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Oak Forest, Illinois (91 - 92)
Chief Construction Inspector for the $41 million construction and
rehabilitation of the road and bridge construction project. The project
constructed 2 new toll collection plazas, bridge rehabilitation, roadway
resurfacing and utility construction. Duties included construction
