I have a vast array of experience in healthcare development and support,
office administration and computer hardware and software support.
Most recently I was the Director of Information Center and Accounting (CIO)
for a local personnel agency which closed recently due to the economic
conditions in the region. In this position, I installed, designed, and
supported all computer systems and a small network between multiple
offices. I designed and made modifications and programming changes as
needed to support our payroll system and taxes, special reports, and
collection of data needed to support all aspects of human resources in our
temporary employment agency.
I was also responsible for all aspects of running the business internally,
except for personnel issues with temporary employees that were handled by
the owner. This also included payroll (both for internal employees and
temporary employees), payroll taxes, billing, accounts receivable, workers
compensation, unemployment, liability insurance, and medical insurance. I
am familiar with both reporting and claims filing for all of the insurance
and unemployment coverages.
My previous employment was at Fairview Hospital where I worked my way up
from a Senior Systems Analyst to Manager of the Application Center, and
then to Manager of the Information Center.
. As a Senior Systems Analyst, my duties included system design and
development of a Physician's Billing system, Nursing Acuity system,
and a Quality Assurance system.
. As the Application Center Manager, I was responsible for a staff of 12
programmers, programmer analysts, and systems analysts. In that
capacity, I evaluated, planned, and scheduled programming projects. I
handled the hiring, promotions, reviews of the staff, and any
personnel issues.
. As the Manager of the Information Center, I was responsible for End
User Computing at both Lutheran and Fairview hospitals which included
350 personal computers and 12 Networks. I evaluated PC hardware, mini-
computer systems, and software. I represented Information Systems on
the team which approved the EMTEC application for the Intensive Care
Unit. I approved the purchasing of both hardware and software. I
managed all equipment repair, the installation of hardware and
software, and the planning and installation of networks. I coordinated
general user training when the equipment was installed.
I also worked for the Cleveland Clinic for a total of 16 years as in
computer operations and in software development. In my most recent role at
CCF, I was responsible for 12 programmers, programmer analysts, and systems
analysts handling specific hospital areas.
. This included the hiring of personnel, scheduling of projects, and
chairing user groups to determine the requirements and scheduling of
each project.
. At one time, I was responsible for
. the Patient User Group (Demographics, Appointment Scheduling,
Admissions),
. the Medical User Group (Medical Registries), and
. the Management Reports User Group (Administrative reports, Fund
Raising projects, Public Affairs, Quality Questionnaires).
I have completed 60 Credit hours at Lakeland Community College majoring in
Computer Science with a 3.6 grade average.
I have an Honorable Discharge from the US Army and I received an Army
Commendation Medal and a Bronze Star while serving in an Infantry Unit in
Vietnam.
