Qualifications:
I have all the requisite qualifications to meet the criteria of conventional mortgage loan underwriter with
15 years experience in the mortgage lending industry processing and underwriting in addition to 12 years
self-employment and ownership of a construction company. I have held the position of salaried
underwriter and also contract underwriter. I have the intrinsic traits that make a good underwriter. I am
professional and courteous. I am very detail oriented, can handle multiple tasks at one time, and I am a
math-oriented thinker. I am responsible and a dedicated problem solver who works well with others. I
have been in the position to train others and have received extensive training and learned much from
others. As a business owner, I fully understand the value of the employer’s time.
Relevant Experience
Prior to 1997 I worked for 15 years in the mortgage lending industry.
1995 - 1997 Independent contract underwriter
I continued to use my expertise in auditing and underwriting during cyclical economic phases. During
1995 to 1997 there was a great demand for refinance loans and I was able to contract with Life Savings
Bank in Riverside, Ca. to underwrite loans as an independent contractor.
1-94 / 4-95 S.C. Funding. Irvine, Ca.: Mortgage Loan Underwriter
At this position I was the team underwriter for a group of 2 loan processors and 4 loan originators. I was
responsible to meet or exceed an underwriting quota as submitted by my team and to underwrite to
investor standards and guidelines.
1991 - 1994 Directors Mortgage, Riverside, Ca.: Mortgage Loan Under / Department Supervisor
Upon hire, I worked in the conventional conforming mortgage underwriting department. After proving
that I excelled in this position, I received further training and was elevated to the non-conforming
residential mortgage loan underwriting department with a further promotion to the position of Supervisor
of that department. As supervisor I reported directly to the department manager and was responsible for
the supervision of 7-8 underwriters in the jumbo loan department. My duties included training newly
hired underwriters, reviewing loans, communicating with underwriting staff, managers and investors,
high-level decision making, reviewing investor guidelines and/or changes, weekly staff meetings and
performance reviews. I decided to leave this position after being offered a higher paying position as a
staff underwriter with S.C. Funding, a mortgage lender in Irvine.
1985 - 1991 Great American Bank, Riverside, Ca.: Processor / Underwriter
I was hired by Great American Bank in 1985 as a loan processor in their Riverside, Ca. lending branch.
My duties included working closely with the loan originators and borrowers, making sure each file was
processed properly and timely submitted to underwriting. After showing in interest in advancement, I was
trained as an underwriter and was then hired by Directors Mortgage Loan Corp. in Riverside, Ca. when
Great American Bank closed its doors. While working for Great American Bank I held a second job for
two years at Pepito’s Restaurant. I am able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities under pressure.
Education:
Graduated high school 1980.
2 years college completed, currently working on AS in Math.
Other Experience
I have been the co-owner, with my husband, of our family construction firm since 1997. My duties and
responsibilities include office administration and executive decision-making, all payroll activities, human
resource management, all accounts payable and accounts receivable management, preparation and
production of mandatory quarterly reports for tax authorities, annual payroll report production,
preparation of annual audit requirements, and meeting with, insurance auditors as required.
