BURNET COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT, Burnet, TX 1996 to Present
Court Security (Bailiff) (2003 to Present)
Recruited in initial security planning and implementation role for new court facility. Tasked with providing security
leadership and direction in high risk, volatile environment along with annex offices/facilities and personnel.
• Security & Threat Assessment: Identified potential weaknesses to create and establish security
procedures and policies as Bailiff for new court. Reduced security incidents by 80% across courthouse.
- Drew up complete plan including location of metal detectors, and positioning of door locks, and
developed personal and physical security plan for 3 judges plus support personnel.
- Conducted layout analysis to put forward tenable suggestions and strategies, and sourced and priced
required items. Continued to put forward proposals and initiatives to improve security.
• Revenue Generation & Efficiency: Implemented program which dramatically slashed high number of
cases cancelled due to individual non attendance from 50% to 10% and less, incorporating increased
fines which generated $65,000 annual revenue. Allowed broad license to act due to judge’s trust.

reduction in the number of weapons and quantity of drugs and alcohol secreted into the annex and

charges to file, thoughtful report procedures, and writing techniques.
• Case Management/Law Enforcement: Achieved consistently high conviction rates for complex crimes
following detailed investigations, interviews, interrogations, and research. Called upon to respond to and
enforce state and federal laws in robberies and assaults, traffic and general accidents, homicides and

recommend improved security initiatives, and establish security plans, working with access control
systems.
Detective – Harris County Sheriff’s Department, Houston, TX 1978 to 1986
• Law Enforcement: Assigned as a detective to Methamphetamine Laboratory Task Force to investigate
Methamphetamine Labs in Houston and surrounding areas. Worked with Federal, State, and Local law
enforcement agencies
• Law Enforcement: Transferred to Homicide Division, conducted follow-up investigations on homicide,
aggravated robbery, sexual assault, and aggravated assault. Investigated numerous homicide and bank
robbery cases resulting in successful criminal prosecutions. Worked with Federal, State, and local
agencies across multiple jurisdictions to prosecute offenders.
District Security Manager – Stop n’ Go (convenience store chain), Houston, TX 1982 to 1984
• Security Management: Directed all security activities for 15-store chain. Conducted security surveys
and audits, instituted policies, and minimized risk.
• Theft Reduction Strategies: Substantially reduced loss through theft by introducing sweeping changes
to stores, which included decluttering to achieve greater visibility, less change in cash register, and
ensuring stores adhered to all security policy requirements.
