1. Conducted research for gene characterization in yeast. Yeast strains were streaked, grown and characterized using PCR and gel electrophoresis. Through experimentation particular genes were disrupted for a particular phenotype. The purpose of this project was to create a series of isogenic yeast strains with deletions of different genes. By properly disrupting the particular gene, I was able to isolate the isogenic strains. Using a treatment with DNA cross-linking reagents, I was able to validate the effectiveness of gene disruption by measuring the cell survival.
