Detective. During my 27 years with the Longview Police Department,
I spent over 8 years as a detective. Our detective unit is charged
with the investigation of all felony offenses which include homicide,
assault, sexual assault, robbery, burglary, fraud, and theft. During
the past few years, I have become our county's expert in regards to
identity theft investigation. I have developed and taught Identity
Theft training programs for law enforcement, financial institutions,
and retailers. I founded the Anti-Fraud Coalition of Cowlitz
County which has resulted in the substantial reduction of fraud being
committed in the local area. I also received awards for my
performance in regards to my investigations concerning homicide and
financial fraud investigations. In 1989, I received training from
the US Customs Service and became a CUSTOMS OFFICER with the US
Customs Service in a program called "Blue Lightning". I would also
like to mention that I have written more non-drug affidavits for
search warrants than anyone else at LPD and Cowlitz County. All of
these affidavits have been upheld in the Courts.
Prior to becoming a detective, I was a patrol sergeant. My
responsibilities the training and supervising of the patrol officers
under my command, as well as protecting and serving the community. I
was also responsible for starting a variety of community policing
programs within the City of Longview.
On 2-1-78, I was hired as a patrolman for the Longview Police
Department. After completing my training at the Washington State
Police Academy in Seattle, WA., I was assigned to the patrol division.
My responsibilities included traffic enforcement and investigation,
crime investigation, and other duties as assigned. I have received
numerous letters of appreciation from citizens, as well as letters of
accommodation from the police department for the work that I have
done.
While a police officer, I started a janitorial service business
with another police officer. This business became one of the largest
janitorial services in the local area within three years of its
beginning. I hired, directed, trained, and supervised 10 employees
and was able to maintain one of the lowest turnover rates of any
janitorial service in the area. This business was sold in April, 1989
at a substantial profit.
1973 thru 1978: Employer: Weyerhaeuser Timber Company, Longview, WA.
98632

by the Weyerhaeuser Company as a "High-Potential" salaried supervisor.
During my four years with Weyerhaeuser, I supervised from 20 to 75
people depending on the position that I held at any one time. While
being the lumber transportation supervisor, I developed a training
program for the plantsite's forklift and carrier operators which was
instrumental in reducing accidents and in aiding in the start-up a new
lumber mill on the plant site. I also set up programs which resulted
