Professional Objective

A position as a senior electrical engineer in a St. Louis area company

where growth and advancement are possible.

Employment Experience

Clean Earth Technologies, LLC ( Earth City, MO Feb.

2007 to Current

Senior Electrical Engineer

As technical lead for the electrical side of the engineering group:

. I designed two separate compact PCB's used to drive hyper spectral

imaging sensor systems. The first was for an acousto-optic tunable

filter (AOTF). This consisted of a custom RF signal generator and a

broadband RF power amplifier. The second was for a fast tunable

ceramic optical filter. This consisted of a custom designed variable

high voltage power supply. Both were controlled by a microcontroller

to set the wavelength of light passed through the filter. As the lead

electrical engineer on the projects I designed the circuits, wrote the

firmware in C, directed junior engineers and technicians to create the

schematic, layout the PCB and perform the testing.

. I designed in several systems level COTS components for the company's

hyper spectral imaging system. This included an inertial navigation

system used for video image stabilization, power supplies and cameras.

. Mentored other engineers.

. Assisted upper management in writing work proposals by estimating

budgets and scheduling resources for the electrical portions of the

projects.

. Provided manufacturing support for their Electrostatic Decontamination

System by maintaining documentation and interfacing with vendors.

Monsanto ( Creve Coeur, MO (contracted through Today's Staffing)

Dec. 2006 to Jan. 2007

Senior Electrical Engineer

As a member of the R&D group within the Crop Analytics division:

. Had a hands-on role in the design, development, and documentation of a

small scale automation machine.

. Provided technical leadership to other engineers in electrical and

automation design.

Synergetics, Inc ( O'Fallon, MO Jan. 2006 to

Nov. 2006

Senior Electrical Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Engineer in the R&D group of Synergetics:

. Built the electronics and firmware R&D infrastructure by purchasing

necessary capital equipment, hiring engineering staff, writing

operating procedures, developed working relationships with suppliers,

vendors and circuit board houses.

. Lead the effort to identify and implement a schematic entry, PCB

layout and circuit simulator for the department. Culminated in the

purchase of OrCAD for the department.

. Developed several new products that involved embedded systems and

optics. I was the lead engineer on these projects and was responsible

for designing the circuits, generating schematics, circuit board

layout, writing the firmware, building prototypes, testing, creating

the proper documentation and transfer to manufacturing. These products

implemented the PIC18Fxxxx microcontroller and the firmware was

written in C.

. Extensive interfacing with customers and Synergetics marketing, sales,

manufacturing and quality departments in support of both new and

current products.

Linn Woodworking ( Belleville, IL Apr. 2004 to Jan.

2006

Owner

As the owner of a custom woodworking company I was involved with every

aspect of the business.

. Developed a working business plan and marketing strategy.

. Worked with perspective clients to design new pieces of furniture and

cabinetry that would meet their particular needs of style,

functionality and pricing.

. Wrote proposals, contracts and created drawings for new projects.

. Managed shop employees to ensure that a quality product was completed

safely, as specified, on time, and within budget.

. Created an excellent rapport with various suppliers to obtain the

needed supplies and equipment at the best rate possible and within a

timely manner.

. Used my engineering skills to design and build several devices for the

shop including: a rotary 3-phase power converter, an automated vacuum

veneer press, a CNC router lift that utilized a stepper motor, user

interface and an embedded microcontroller, and many jigs and fixtures

to help improve the safety, speed and accuracy of the work performed.

bioM rieux, Inc ( Hazelwood, MO Feb. 2000 to Apr.

2004

Senior Electrical Engineer

As a member of the Instrument R&D Engineering department my main

responsibility involved the development of new, and/or the application of

existing electronic and optical technologies to future generations of

medical instruments.

. I developed several electronic circuit boards for one of the

companies' newest medical instruments, the VITEK 2 Compact.

. I worked on a new method of characterizing and testing optics using a

photometer.

. I created the proper design documentation, to satisfy FDA regulations,

for several new and existing electrical and optical assemblies.

. Dealt with numerous component obsolescence issues.

. Worked with several of the company's suppliers to solve various

product issues.

. Was the driving force behind locating an alternate supplier for the

instruments main optical assembly to satisfy the companies need for

quality, pricing and reliability.

. Provided manufacturing support for several electrical and optical

products.

Kniepkamp Engineering ( Fairview Heights, IL June 1999 to

Jan. 2000

Electrical Engineer

Working within an engineering firm I designed electrical systems for the

military industry.

. With minimal supervision I designed the hardware and wrote the

firmware for a military rocket sequencer/launcher. This required my

expertise in analog, digital and embedded microcontroller circuit

design. I was involved with all aspects of the design phase including

writing the specification, circuit design, microcontroller

programming, supervising PCB layouts, prototype fabrication and

testing.

microcontroller hardware design and programming, I have developed new

and innovative intrusion sensors to satisfy strict OEM automotive

specifications.

. Worked concurrently with customers, manufacturing, testing,

purchasing, and quality personnel throughout the design phase of a

program to provide a design that not only met the customer's criteria,

but was also of high quality, cost effective, and manufacturable.

. Created complete design document and control packages for new and

existing automotive assemblies including design specifications,

schematics, layout drawings, BOM's, approved vendor lists, FMEA's and

test plans/reports.

. Supervised several support engineers, CAD/PCB layout personnel and

electronic technicians.

. Used SPC data collected in production to ensure continuing improvement

in designs.

. Took a major role in defining and setting up the manufacturing

processes of several products.

. Supported production discrepancies by incorporating fixes into

subsequent revisions in a timely manner.
