Professional Accomplishments

Gramercy Alumina, Gramercy, LA 1995-2009

Project Engineer/Plant Modeling (SYSCad) 2007-2009

. Designed 8 Cyclones and implemented installation to solve the lack of

vessels for proper classification due to increased Plant flow. This

resulted in a savings of $1,316,600/yr since 1996. Due to the success

of this initiative in 1996, there are approximately 60 Cyclones

currently operating resulting in an increase in the Classification

Process and subsequently Plant production.

. Developed modules from the Total Plant Process Model for the Digestion

Process, Evaporation Process, Clarification Process & North, South, &

Batch Precipitation Processes. This enabled the SYSCad model to run

more efficiently.

. Collaborated with consultants on programming of several SYSCad models

to evaluate variables and their effect on the Bayer Process and final

results.

Technical Superintendent 2001-2007

. Tested and launched a different type of Flocculant resulting in

equivalent effectiveness and efficiency at a reduced cost. The

savings of this initiative resulted in a savings of $600,000/yr at

full Plant production since 2005.

. Identified the high cost of chemical additives (Humate Remover) to the

Bayer Process. Optimized Humate Remover and reduced cost by 67%.

This resulted in a savings of $500,000/yr since 2005.

. Developed training material (SOPs) and facilitated implementation of

one week training program for twenty-five hourly operators. Monitored

employees daily and the Process on a 24 hour basis making necessary

adjustments to the Bayer Process variables to increase production and

reduce overall production cost.

. Attended training in Jamaica on the SYSCad model and formulated

different scenarios to test results with the Bayer Process variables,

raw materials, product specifications, and production.
