- Documentation - Technical writing and editing, training, communications,
and public relations - Using early desktop publishing to cutting edge
content management, wrote single page to multi-page technical
instructions for campus community. Newsletter editor. Initiated,
advised, and decided what was important and needed as well as the
appropriate format (print or web) and audience. Worked with subject-
matter experts. Prepared and taught classes on subjects such as
FrameMaker, PowerPoint, and using laptops and software.
- Help Desk - Began "behind the desk," then evolved to first line of
support for students, advising them, and producing technical how-tos and
FAQs.
- Consulting - Helped all members of the campus community - faculty,
staff, and students - with desktop publishing, thesis production, and
large-scale printing. Prepared reports and provided editorial assistance
to management and staff.
- Mobile Computing Program (MCP) Committee - RPI was the first college to
require all undergraduates to have laptop computers and also an early
adopter of computers in the classroom. Prepared RFP. Each year required
selection of laptop and a student purchase packet (brochure and multiple
forms and letters) for which I was responsible.
- Web Sites - Designed, maintained, and wrote content for various web
sites.
