automation, SQL automation & a Master Test Plan.
2003-2004 IBM/Viacore
Sr. QA Engineer ~ At IBM/Viacore we built B2B WBIC solutions on a 3-tier
architecture using IBM's WEBSPHERE software. I was improving the Software
QA Processes to create better customer satisfaction & higher quality
products. I researched, planned, & evaluated 3rd party test tools,
implemented test tools and created test automation. The automation was for
Smoke Testing after nightly builds and Regression testing for each major
release. I evaluated SILKTEST for GUI regression & led the RosettaNet
Certification RNIF 2.0 effort for Sync and Async protocols, SSL, Encryption
and Digital Signatures. I used the RN Certification tool & scripts to
obtain PIP and RNIF 2.0 certification readiness for the router products we
sold. I used Siebel call center software for defect tracking and reporting.
The product was XML based & I used XML SPY, EVALID, SPIDERS, SMOKETEST
AUTOMATION, QFTEST, QUICKTEST, WINRUNNER and other test tools to automate
the testing. I built a command line front-end that automated the regression
test cases, parsed the output
and reported back the results. I am an expert with CMMI & other processes.
I recruited and led 2 software developers-in-test to create JAVA based test
tools for AS1, AS2, ROSETTANET 2, SOAP & EDI protocols.
2002-2003 Teradyne
Test Lead ~ Teradyne built automated x-ray products that test printed
circuit boards by comparing images and using algorithms to determine &
report defects on the assembly line. I was asked to start a QA group and
led a team of 3 software testers to improve the system quality. I wrote the
test plans/test cases, mentored the testers, and executed the testing
according to the MS PROJECT schedules which I submitted. The products ran
under REDHAT LINUX & MS 2000 OS. The regression testing was done using
SEGUE SILKTEST & SHELL SCRIPTING. Under my supervision, an automated build,
pull & smoke test was done after the daily build process. GUIMAPS of the
products were completed and used to provide 100% functional coverage. In
the first 6 months, I was able to release a product that went from hundreds
of critical issues to almost none. I implemented the use of specifications
and test cases to do multi-test passes for new functionality. I used
sophisticated metrics to indicate readiness for release, product life cycle
stage and target areas for improvement.
2000-2002 Syntricity INC
Sr. Test/Lead ~ While with Syntricity, I led a team of 4 software testers
in releasing the thin-client Data Conductor Web based Database &
Statistical Analysis software for the Semi-Conductor industry. Automation
was accomplished with capture/replay, Winrunner & Loadrunner. I used Toad
for White Box SQL database validation. The product was tested (as single
source) with: Solaris & NT 4 Servers, Apache Web server, Java & C code and
an Oracle 816 database. Browser verification testing included both Internet
Explorer 5.5 & Netscape 4.8. Recruiting, mentoring & training junior
testers was part of my team building process. In addition, I assisted Tech
Pubs, Support, Marketing and the PM. Writing the test plans, implementing
systematic test case writing, test case & specification reviews were all
part of the release cycle. My test methodology included "find it early/fix
it early", daily builds and daily-automated smoke tests.
