Dec 2009 – Current

Lead the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) SDET and Program Management teams at Microsoft (a team of

about 50 engineers, with 7 engineering managers and managers of managers).

• Bootstrapped and lead the design of the WPF v5 planning process, establishing the necessary sub-processes,

artifacts, communication plans, partner and customer engagement processes, technology investigations,

scenario definition and investigations, etc.

• Identified a set of strategic focus areas for WPF v5

• Collaborated with the rest of the .NET management to establish a common planning process for .NET

• Set the team in motion. Worked with the team leaders and technical leaders (PM, Dev and Test) to generate

the various necessary planning documents.

• Owned end-to-end (PM, Dev, Test) the Windows API Code Pack for .NET. Worked with partners and the

Microsoft Evangelism team to generate and prioritize feature set, staffed the team, established a product

release cycle, established engineering process, etc.

Lead the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) SDET team at Microsoft (a team of about 40 engineers, with 5

engineering managers) for 3 major releases of WPF.

• Shipped Visual Studio 2010 – the 1st $1B+ product based on WPF.

• Shipped WPF in .NET Framework 4

• Shipped WPF in .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

• Shipped WPF in .NET Framework 3.5

• Designed and shipped WPF Application Quality Guide versions 0.1 to 0.5 – a novel guide for development

of high quality WPF applications (very popular -- ~150,000 referrals on Google)

• Designed and shipped TestApi versions 0.1 to 0.5 (~5,500 downloads) – a novel API library for test and tools

development. The library is being considered for inclusion in Visual Studio 11 (next major version of VS).

• Designed and shipped WPF MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) Toolkit version 0.1 (most popular WPF

toolkit download with ~17,000 downloads)

• Lead the Visual Studio 2010 Accessibility effort across 20+ product units. Refined and published an

Application Accessibility Testing workflow.

• Designed and implemented a team-wide set of engineering excellence initiatives (aka “The Culture Shift”),

which resulted in drastic increase in the productivity and quality of the work delivered by the organization.

• Architected and overviewed the development and deployment of a componentized and layered test

infrastructure for management, discovery, distribution, execution, debugging and logging of more than

105,000 automated platform tests. Overview the development of several additional large- and medium-scale

production systems (stress, performance, functionality, etc.)

• Increased automated test stability from 85% to 99.5% (for a bed of 100,000+ automated tests), Improved run

times 500%, Improved build times 800%.

• Presented best practices at various conferences and committees, including executive briefings (MS EBC

sessions), Patterns & Practices Summit, etc.

Lead the automated test development for NTUSER, NTGDI, GDI+, Win32 Text and DWM (Desktop Window Manager)

test teams at Microsoft. Lead the design and development of automated test harnesses, suites and automated tests for

the Win32 GUI subsystem. Shipped in Windows XP SP1, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista.
