Project: Enterprise Manager and DB Configuration tools, Release 10.2.0.4.0

and 11.1.0.7.0

. Led the whole testing effort for two Oracle product families - Oracle

Enterprise Manager and Oracle Database configuration tools on six

different platforms - Linux, Windows, Solaris, AIX, HPUX-IA64 and HPUX-

PARISH64.

. Created the test plan, planned and delegated tasks and ensured their

progress. Reviewed the test specifications on Linux and tailored the

same for other platforms - this reduced the testing time from 7-days

down to 4-days.

. Proactively arranged and managed the hardware inventory across six

platforms and ensured no testing was stalled due to shortage of

hardware - all this coordination effort ensured all testing tasks were

completed on-time for all platforms, which was critical with multiple

releases in a short time frame.

. Mentored juniors, gave technical sessions on the products under test,

gave tips on troubleshooting issues in the environment, educated them

on the differences in test setup on different platforms and made sure

they were able to contribute to the activities in quick time leading

to better testing efficiency.

Project: Oracle Enterprise Manager support for Oracle DB Backup and

Recovery

. Reviewed Functional specifications and developed test specifications

to ensure that every use case was tested before the product was

released to the customers.

. Automated all the test cases using XML - Webtester, SQL and Oratst.

This automation helped reduce the testing time by 50% i.e. time

required for testing one cycle of basic acceptance tests reduced from

2-days down to 1-day.

. Achieved 100% test coverage and 100% page hit through automation for

the backup and recovery functionality.

. Interacted with the developers, used the information they provided and

added additional automation which increased the code coverage in

backup and recovery area from a modest 50% to a substantial increase

to 76.5%.

. 150+ bugs filed during the course of the release, interacted with the

developers and explained the issue, followed up with them for fixes to

the critical ones, validated bug fixes and also ensured that there

were no regressions.

Project: Oracle Database Upgrade Assistant, Oracle Database release

10.2.0.1.0

. Developed test plan to certify Oracle Database Upgrade assistant, a

tool used to upgrade an Oracle database from a lower version to a

later one. Developed test specifications for upgrade that ensured 100%

functional coverage for all upgrade scenarios.

. Established the environment for testing upgrades, which involved

installing and configuring multiple Oracle database versions on the

same server and tested the multitude of upgrade scenarios/combinations

- this effort certified that the tool was reliable for performing

upgrades in different customer environments.

. Previously, automation was non-existent and had not been possible.

Analysis of the environment uncovered the complexity of handling

environment variable conflicts across multiple Oracle database

versions was the major hurdle. Developed a framework using Oratst and

Shell scripts to set up upgrade test environment - this framework

formed the basis for all further automation.

. Automated all the possible upgrade test scenarios using Oratst, Shell

and SQL scripts. This automation helped reduce the testing cycle time

by 60% (i.e. from 5 days down to 2 days).

. Filed 200+ bugs on the Database upgrade assistant, validated all the

bug fixes and also ensured there were no regressions - this helped

ensure that the database upgrade tool was of the highest quality.

Project: HP Multi-Functional Peripherals - Current Product Engineering

. Analyzed, triaged customer bugs and ensured fixes were in place

through added fixed focus tests.

. Ran Duration or Load Tests on the product, logged defects for bugs,

interacted with developers and explained the issue and verified the

fixes ensuring that the product met the quality benchmarks before

being released to the customer.

. Enhanced and maintained the team website during the course of this

project.

Project: Localization testing for HP Digital Copier

. Developed System Test specifications, executed tests, filed bugs,

discussed recommendations for defect fixes, verified fixes and ensured

that the localization of the HP digital copier screen was of high

quality for three different languages.

. Built binaries after every bug fix for the whole team and coordinated

the localization testing activities for all the seventeen languages.

This ensured that all languages were tested thoroughly by the team and

helped catch and track regressions.

. Consolidated test results from all team members and prepared clear

test reports, which communicated the status accurately to the client

and yielded good feedback from the client.
