OBJECTIVE

Seeking a full-time position in the field of embedded software/firmware

design and test

SUMMARY

Solid technique depth in embedded system, device driver, RTOS multitasking

program and FPGA based acceleration; energetic, team-player, and quick-

learner; excellent verbal and written communication skills

SKILLS

. Proficient in C/C++, Assembly, VHDL, Tcl script, Bash Shell

. Hands-on experience of Interrupt, I2C, RS232, UART, JTAG debugger, GPIO,

Memory controller, PLL, PWM, RTC, Watchdog

. In-depth understanding of uC/OS ii and VxWorks RTOS

. Tools: ADS (CodeWarrior, AXD), Tornado, Keil, GDB, Make, Xilinx ISE,

Quartus SoPC, Modelsim, LabView, Matlab, Impulse C, LTspice

EXPERIENCE

Embedded Software Engineer

May - Jul, 2009

FriendlyARM Computer Technology Co. Ltd., Guangzhou, Guangdong, China

. Main duty is to modify U-Boot source code to support SMDK2440 platform

with Samsung S3C2440 processor (ARM920t) and on-chip peripherals

. Add extra functionalities to U-Boot: Ethernet chip support, tftp, NAND

flash support, yaffs file system image read and write, booting from NAND

. Cross Compilation tool arm-linux- is used. Both Assembly and C are used

for low level and higher level initialization respectively

. Achievement: SMDK2440 board can be successfully booted up from NAND

Summer Intern as Application Engineer

Jul - Sep, 2009

NSF Center for High-Performance Reconfigurable Computing, Gainesville, FL

. Test and develop applications for the newly fielded FGPA based cluster

named Novo-G

. Test the robustness of APIs, bus speed, power efficiency and IPs from

Gidel (board provider)

. Achievement: several fatal bugs reported to Gidel; application

development prototype using APIs and IPs

Medical image reconstruction by FPGA

Aug - Dec, 2009

NSF Center for High-Performance Reconfigurable Computing, Gainesville, FL

. The main purpose of this project is to demonstrate the speed advantage

of FPGA based machine

. Backprojection algorithm is chosen as benchmark, which is widely used in

CT image reconstruction

. Another task is to cooperate with Impulse Accelerated Technologies (tool

provider) to produce platform support package (PSP), so as to enable

pipe/stream based inner process communication using IPs on Gidel board

. Achievement: The design achieves around 600X speed acceleration on Gidel

ProcStar III board; pipe and synchronization register are supported under

current PSP version, shared memory is to be continued.

Embedded fault tolerant architecture design

Oct - Dec, 2009

. Design a dynamic triple module redundant architecture used for critical

embedded application

. The architecture is able to identify fault process and replace it with

backup dynamically

. Altera Quartus SOPC enables multiple NIOS II cores, Avalon interconnect

fabric and peripherals instantiated on a single chip

. Design is based on finite state machine and tested on Altera DE2 board

Tracking-the-lost project

Oct, 2007- Feb, 2008

Innovative Thinking project at Beijing Univ. of P&T

. The motivation of this project is to quickly find lost stuff like wallet

by calling it

. The whole system consists of one master device and several slave

devices. Each device is controlled by MCU (8051) and inner device

communication is enabled by RF chip (CC2500)

. Program in Keil and prototype on breadboard

. Achievement: The system functionally works well within approximately 32

feet

EDUCATION

Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering

May 2010

University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

GPA: 3.73/4.00

Bachelor of Engineering in Automation

Jun 2008

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China

GPA: 88/100

AWARDS

. Teaching assistant, department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,

UF, Jan - May, 2010

. Achievement Award, Engineering Department, UF, Aug, 2008 - May, 2010

. Merit based National Scholarship, China, 2005, 2006 and 2007
