PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
HNTB, 2008 – 2010
Project Structural Engineer/Squad Leader
Managed structural design projects for various transportation/hydraulic structures in a project engineering/management
role.
• Managed the final structural design of a 56 foot wide sector gate connecting Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity
(LPV) 148 and 149, New Orleans, LA, with an estimated construction cost for the structure is $38 million.
• Reviewed the design of two box culverts and two proprietary precast concrete bridge structures for several
local counties and municipalities from preliminary to final design.
• Provided structural engineering consultation for the conceptual phases for a large rails-to-trails project in St.
Louis, MO. Developed the scope of work for the preliminary design phase. Performed a preliminary
seismic analysis for the portion of the structure over I-70.
• Supported engineering effort for the O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP). Performed structural design,
structural design calculation checking, and drawing review.
• Completed the design and construction documents for the substructure of the bridge, including abutments,
cofferdams, precast/prestressed concrete arches for pedestrian walkways and retaining walls. This project is
part of the the Chicago River North Branch Canal Reconstruction consisted of the removal of the
existing movable bridge and design of a tied arch structure that would be supported on new substructure
elements. Designed a cantilevered retaining wall for containment structure at an ethanol plant.
• Reviewed construction shop drawings, provided responses to RFIs and conducted site visits.
Dukane Precast, Naperville, IL 2005 – 2008
Project Engineer
Structural engineering design for steel and prestressed concrete bridges for ISTHA roadways and multiple warehouse,
parking garages.
• Produced and checked design calculations for concrete substructures, foundations, concrete decks, prestressed
concrete girders, and bridge drainage design. Created geometry layout. This work was performed for the
following types of structures:
Precast/Prestressed concrete bridges
o
Railroad bridges
o
Tied Arch bridges
o
Lock Structure, Dams for the Army Corp. of Engineers
o
• Checked design drawings and reviewed construction shop drawings.
• Inspected the condition of a variety of structures, including precast/prestressed concrete bridges and culverts.
Bloom Consultants, Schaumburg, IL 2003 – 2005
Structures Engineer,
Performed structural calculations for various types of structures including movable, roadway and
r ailroad bridge, junction chambers. Participated in IDOT Phase I studies and documentation for
m ultiple bridge safety improvements and project management overseeing other Phase I studies from
d ifferent consultants. Other duties including construction management and field engineering.
• Worked on the design and preparation of plans, specifications and contract document for
north and south abutments, pier, wing walls, and retaining walls of METRA/ICRR railroad
bridge.
• Reviewed load ratings done by consultants for bridges for IDOT and ISTHA.
• Investigated/developed the deficient bridge list to be used to budget for future construction projects for
various of CDOT movable bridges.
• Performed structural analysis/design of manhole, culverts and junction chambers in both Chicago down area
and at Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Stickney, IL.
• Provide field engineering for METRA Parking Facility Olympia Fields, IL.
• Inspected the condition of a variety of structures, including prestressed concrete, steel girder and steel truss
bridges per National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
