WORK EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Beckman Coulter: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering 2008 - 2009

Natural Alternatives: Engineering Manager 2007 - 2008

Schumacher / Air Products: Chemical Engineering Mgr, Facilities Mgr, 1997

- 2007

International Rectifier: New Fab Facilities Engineering Director, Plant

Services Director, 1984 - 1996

Accomplishments

Driving for Results: High Tech Facility: From Greenfield to Fully

Functional Facility (International Rectifier, Facility Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: A $100 million high tech. wafer fabrication

plant was built within budget meeting the schedule. The facility started up

without any problems and supported record yields for the product.

Business Knowledge: Building an Enterprise from an Organization

(International Rectifier, Plant Services Director)

Accomplishment Statement: Built an enterprise system for the department to

aid in the smooth operation of the organization and control the expenses,

forecasting, cost control and budgeting on a proactive basis by controlling

commitments and not past expenditures. The system had less financial and

accounting variance than the company accounting system and in today's world

would be very helpful from a SOX requirement. The accounting department

utilized the data to accrue expenses each month. The DMAIC technique from 6

Sigma was used in a team effort to establish accountability for each of 5

separate departments.

Collaboration and Teamwork: Cutting the Waste (Air Products and Chemicals

(Schumacher), Facility Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: As a team member I improved the environment by

improving the yield from 85% to 99% reducing the waste from the major

product line. These actions were recognized and resulted in receipt of the

Environmental Responsibilities Award for 2006.

Leading Innovation and Change: Efficiency, Efficiency, Efficiency

(International Rectifier, Plant Services Director)

Accomplishment Statement: Improved the operation of the water purification

system reducing the costs by $200K per year and improving manufacturing

yield adding to $500K per year to the bottom line.

Process Management: Control it or Risk Loosing It (International Rectifier,

Plant Services Director)

Accomplishment Statement: Utilized Six Sigma techniques to implement SPC

and FMEA's on all process system. These techniques reduced the risk of an

unplanned shutdown significantly. I ran the facility for over 10 years

without one unplanned shutdown.

Building and Leading Teams: Mistake Proofing the Process (Air Products and

Chemicals (Schumacher), Facility Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: Re-engineered the process as a result of a $1

million product loss totally eliminating the root cause of the problem.

Mistake proofing techniques from Lean Manufacturing were used to remove

unessential processes reducing the risk and reducing cycle time from 5 days

to 2 days.

Applying Technical Expertise: Tracking down an invisible cause (Air

Products/Schumacher), Chemical Engineering Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: A major manufacturing problem invisible in the

manufacturing process was solved and eliminated utilizing Six Sigma

techniques. Close work with the number one customer and a resulting

solution resulted in winning the Suppliers Quality Award.

Decision Making: If you build it will they come? (International Rectifier,

New Fab Facilities Engineering Director)

Accomplishment Statement: Identified choices to top management for site

selection for new manufacturing facility. Met with European officials

surveying the availability of government grants.

Communication: Project coordination across the USA (Air Products and

Chemicals (Schumacher), Facility Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: Despite the fact that the team players were

spread out across the US I coordinated a 400% expansion in capacity and

sales for a major product line.

Developing Yourself and Others: How do we staff it? (International

Rectifier, Plant Services Director)

Accomplishment Statement: Set up a training program with a local community

college to train people in an unskilled area. Secured a grant from the

State of California for $300K to support the program.

Strategic Ability: Overcoming Cultural Differences (Air Products and

Chemicals (Schumacher), Chemical Engineering Manager)

Accomplishment Statement: Successfully transferred a legacy process

overseas despite cultural differences and reluctance on the part of the

staff. I transformed reluctance on the part of the staff to excitement and

pride about the project.
