EXPERIENCE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN DPT. OF MAT. SCI. & ENG. Ann Arbor,
MI
Winter 2009 Researcher Under Professor Michael
Thouless
Responsible for creating scientific experiments in an effort
determine stresses and strains caused by drying colloid films on
cantilever beams with very small budget and limited resources,
yielding physical data about stresses at film fracture.
Analyzed multiple materials for each component of the experiments
assuring the best possible choices for the most accurate results
possible.
Derived equations to use to determine stresses and strains acting
on cantilever beams based on the drying of thin films, producing
measurable results.
Participated in a graduate-level course on thin film materials
and mechanics to more understand the research, resulting in an
enhanced knowledge of the topic.
