Summary
Highly motivated chemical engineer with over 5 years of progressive
experience. A track record of significant company contributions with a
broad range of management and technical skills. Interacted with customers,
sales force, management team, technical staff and outside vendors
throughout the world to develop and execute leading edge technology inkjet
products. Founding employee of a successful chemical development company,
Ink Mill Corporation.
Professional Experience
Senior Development Engineer, Ink Mill Corp., Plymouth, NH, July 2008 -
Present
Project Manager: Responsible for the planning, execution and
implementation of development projects. Managing a project includes
managing the risk within the project. Risks occur when things are unknown.
In order to mitigate this risk and have improved success, open
communication with all team members is essential.
. Create clear and attainable project objective, set the project
requirements and manage cost, time and quality
. Coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure
customer satisfaction with the projects progress and completion
Lead Development: Formulate leading edge technology inkjet inks in solvent
and bio solvent based systems. Develop, test and commercialize inks for a
wide customer base.
. Screen raw materials for cost, compatibility and performance
using laboratory equipment
. Perform and analyze test results such as viscosity
characteristics, product stability, light fastness, surface
tension, transparency, optical density, evaporation rate and
chemical resistance of the dried film
. Work with customers to ensure final products meet or exceeds
their expectation
Sales/Marketing: Technical advisor for new and existing customers.
Educated sales staff on product applications and reasonable performance
expectations. Worked directly with customers on technical matters to
complete a product and begin generating revenue.
. Exhibitor and technical sales at SGIA trade show
. Generate new sales through existing customer relationships
Quality Assurance: Ensure strict internal quality standards are met, while
understanding the quality of our products is ultimately determined by our
customers. More than just our internal test requirement, the product must
conform to customer specific requirements and comply with established plans
based on the customer's expectation.
R&D Chemical Engineer, EFI/Inkware, Meredith, NH, November 2006 - July 2008
Chemical Formulation: Lead formulation engineer for leading edge Bio based
ink technology. Responsible for screening raw material compatibility,
applied laboratory techniques to analyze required specifications, used
statistical analysis techniques to optimize final product quality.
. Developed a leading edge Bio based solvent inkjet ink for the
wide format printing industry. Annual sales of this product
produced $3M in revenue in its first year.
. Screened raw materials based on cost analysis and final product
price point to ensure final formulation is a viable commercial
product
. Traveled oversees to test ink formulations at customer's
facility to aid in product optimization

Field Service: Traveled throughout the world including Japan, China,
Korea, Europe and the US to OEMs and third party customers.
. Combined understanding of the chemistry of the product being
applied with the desired application to optimize product
performance
. Studied the impact of process parameters on product performance,
often outside of the normal operating window, to ensure a robust
system the end user can be comfortable using
. Integrated new products within a specific application, including
modification of application parameters, studying product
performance based on these modifications, and occasionally
making application design recommendations
Process Engineer: Transitioned new products from lab scale to pilot scale
and to manufacturing. Studied process variations between lab scale and
manufacturing and their effect on product quality.
. Worked with production group to develop procedure for quality
control checks to ensure the final product matches lab scale
samples
. Developed and implemented manufacturing processes to optimize
output while maintaining a high quality robust product.
Application Engineer/Project Manager, GL&V, Nashua, NH October 2005 -
November 2006
. Analyzed process flow parameters and sized inline pulp & paper
equipment per customer specifications
. Calculated costs for equipment raw materials and manufacturing
cost paying close attention to the volatile cost of stainless
steel
. Prepare formal proposals and submit directly to the customer
including technical discussion on equipment, pricing and legal
documentation
. Manage project from initial proposal through price negotiations,
manufacturing of the equipment and the final installation and
startup
R&D Intern, Inkware, Meredith, NH June 2005 - September 2005
. Assisted lead development engineer with ink formulations and
scale up for customer trials
. Performed cross contamination testing of inks to reduce cleaning
time and increase production output
. Aided in reducing the amount of air pollution generated in ink
manufacturing
