Responsibilities:
Received patient samples for analysis in the departments of Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank. Report patient results accurately and timely. Perform maintenance, calibrations and quality control on all equipment and analyzers in each department. Assist in training new employees and students during their clinical rotations. Receive specimens for culture and analysis in the department of Microbiology. Set up patient and quality control organism cultures for growth. Read growth on assortment of agar plates and set up for definitive analysis and working antibiotic results. Obtained Bioterrorism training certification through the Alabama State Laboratory, for identifying bioterroristic agents and disaster training techniques.
