May/2010 - May/2010 Colby-Sawyer College
Archives New London, NH Archivist Intern
This was my internship at Colby-Sawyer, it was a
120 hour, two credit internship which I completed
in the month of May. My responsibilities were to
organize online pictures of Colby-Sawyer events and
to organize and properly preserve the archive's
extensive collection of slides. These slides
document the College's long history from the turn
of the 20th Century until the present, from a
Junior College for women college to a co-ed
private college. My job was not to organize the
entire collection but to sort as many slides as I
could. I ended the internship having sorted and
preserved nearly 10,000 slides for decades to come.
6/09 - 9/09 Hannaford Bros.
Co New London, NH
Front End Cashier
Hannaford was my second job during the Summer of
2009. I was hired as a summer seasonal worker as a
cashier. Being the only supermarket in the area,
this job included a lot more than simply ringing up
purchases. I had to also assist customers in
finding products, and maintain a pleasant
atmosphere in a crowded store and less than ten
registers to check out.
I also had closing responsibilities; such as
cleaning the floors, registers and belts,
collecting shopping carts, and restocking shopping
bags. This temporary job ended the first week of
September but in that time I learned how important
it is to provide the best quality customer service
you can.
July/2006 - Aug/2008 Sherwood Island
State Park Westport, CT
Seasonal Maintainer
This was my primary job during summers in between
semesters at College. I started the summer before
my Freshman year and ended the summer before my
Junior year. As a seasonal maintainer I was to
maintain the upkeep, safety and aesthetics of the
Park. I mowed lawns, trimmed and mulched trees,
removed fallen trees from roadways, trash pickup,
painting, electrical work, cleaning and maintaining
state vehicles and equipment and maintaining park
gardens.
Education 9/06 - 5/10 Colby-Sawyer College New London, NH
History/ B.A.
I graduated Colby-Sawyer with a 2.7 GPA, which
reflects the years it took me to make the
adjustment to the academic rigor of college, my
last semester showcased my true ability in
academics. My Senior year at Colby-Sawyer I
received a 3.45 GPA and received the History
Department's highest award for my 50 page thesis
and research project. I will receive my diploma in
October due to an overlapping summer internship,
but nonetheless I completed the school's
requirements for a BA in History and a Minor in
Philosophy. I was involved with the Philosophy
club, I played bass and guitar for the Gospel Choir
club, and was asked to be part of the interview
process of prospective History professors to be
hired. My experiences at Colby-Sawyer were both
positive and enriching and shaped me into the
individual I am today.
