RESEARCH PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN:
M.S. THESIS Title: Toxicological Effects of Contaminants in Pet Food &
Milk Products.
Duration: Jan 2007- May 2010
Description: Research is about the toxicity of melamine and cyanuric acid
which was observed in the pet food and the milk products in U.S and China
in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Because of this contamination, the process
relays' upon the illustration and the evaluation of the histological,
clinical toxicological characteristics outbreaks of pet-food associated
renal failure in the pets and the death of infants. The main goal of the
project is to develop a method for the detection of the contamination of
pet food and for the milk products by using the Surface-Enhanced Raman
scattering, HPLC, FTIR, GC-MS.
Project detail:
> Preparation of silver colloid is the important aspect in this
research.
> Wheat gluten was ordered from the different companies to examine and
was also spiked with the melamine.
> Pet foods from different companies were collected in this process.
> Melamine and cyanuric acid were tested with RAMAN and FTIR with silver
colloid as substrate.
> Different types of milk were examined (fat free milk, 2% milk and
whole milk.)
> Melamine and cyanuric acid were mixed in different ratios to see which
ratio forms the crystals.
> Working with different SPE cartridges for extraction process
NOTE: This Research project is under Publication process.
UNDERGRAD RESEARCH Title: Drug Trends in Pregnant Women
Duration: Three Months.
Description: The complete project was held on, the women who were been
advised drugs during their pregnancy. Influence on the baby due to the
dosage of the drugs. The positives and the negatives were been analyzed in
this research by consulting and discussing with Doctors and the Patients in
order to get appropriate results.
Project Detail:
> The sample size was for 300 pregnant women who were under treatment.
> Took the photocopies of the prescriptions from the patients (pregnant
women) and consulted doctors regarding.
> Diabetic pregnant women were more who were been advised of the drugs.
> Effects of the drugs on the baby were observed.
> Main reason for advising drugs was for the strength, energy and proper
health of the baby and the mother.
