September, 1999 to January, 2010
09/01 - 01/2010 Senior Project Manager, AOLTW Network Operations
Managed a variety of resources to implement business critical
infrastructure and Applications, including:
. Represented our Operations Organization at weekly Project
Intake meetings. Forum involved review of newly funded
projects and identifying which division would take ownership
for each initiative. I communicated project status in weekly
executive meetings so we could prioritize efforts based on
business importance and organizational resource's bandwidth.
. Lead initiative to re-develop the primary Secure File
Transfer system used by @600 internal and external customers.
Project involved re-architecting the infrastructure while
also modifying Application Operating System to run off open
source code. The launch was well received and improved end
user experience with file transfer speeds.
. Project Managed Data Warehouse effort to migrate Financial
and customer-facing systems from e-Genera Frames to more
sophisticated hardware. This improved Application performance
and significantly reduced abinitio license costs.
. Managed migration of over 100 financial and customer-facing
applications from Redbrick platform to Netezza frames.
Involved managing the off-shore Development, QA, and
Operation resources as well as Data Analyst employee's.
Mission was successful in improving Application performance
and retiring archaic hardware.
. Managed Domain migration involving seven European independent
Network Domains to the domestic one. This included
coordination with international resources to ensure all
business requirements and government labor laws were
documented and adhered to. Successfully achieved objective
to centralize computer management and allow for easier
initiative to roll out a new corporate mail and calendaring
application.
. Implemented Vendor Network solution for management of
domestic and international corporate site infrastructure
topology. This deployment enhanced the Network Engineering
teams view of site infrastructure and allowed for better
forecasting for site upgrades. Provided on-going coordination
for software upgrades and managed technical issues, when
needed.
. In working with Vendor and Internal resources, deployed a
Network utilization system which provided Hub and Switch
utilization for Domestic and International sites. This helped
in management of the network including when hardware upgrades
would need to take place. A thorough User Acceptance Plan
was produced and used to ensure contractual agreements were
met.
. Implemented Circuit Solution for Telecom Divisions. This was
centralized Corporate system used to track Voice partner
contracts and associated bills.
. Coordinated and executed User Acceptance Testing for
Application downloads through companies' internal software
management tool. This also involved coordination in
producing a user-friendly web interface.
. Headed Virtual Tape back-up implementation for business-
critical systems that required 1tb or more of data retention.
This initiative involved coordination with DBA's, Unix and
Linux Engineers as well as storage resources.
. Redesigned and published the companies support portal used as
the repository for employee's hardware and software
assistance. This included working with various counterparts
to gather departmental requirements to ensure policies and
support practices were continually accurate.
. Project Managed effort to gather Product and User
requirements as part of Corporate-wide initiative to rollout
MS Outlook as the companies' mail and calendar system.
. Lead internal corporate inventory project to ensure accurate
asset data was documented in preparation for AOL and Time
Warner separation. This also reduced corporate tax expenses.
09/99 - 08/2001 Technical Trainer, Publishing Support Operations
Produced Technical documentation, training material, class
agenda, and conducted training of AOL publishing languages for
Internal Designers and Vendors.
. Delivered Training to Internal employees as well Vendors on
how to publish content to the service. Traveled to customer
sites regularly to supply the necessary training.
. Produced Training documentation and managed overall Training
agenda for the AOL proprietary publishing languages used to
publish content on AOL's various sites.
