T he MetroHealth System is one of the largest, most comprehensive academic healthcare systems in
Northeast Ohio. This government owned, safety net hospital has a total managed spend of $200M, a
departmental budget of $600K, and a staff of ~ 50 associates.

Direct a new team of associates to establish a sound and ethical infrastructure, transform the
organization from tactical to strategic sourcing, achieve cost savings, and effectively reduce inventory.
• Established a commodity focused organization to negotiate cost savings (identified $7M), improve
cash f low (30 days), and improve centralized inventory management and product distribution.
• Exceeded expectations in the supply and management of PPE supplies during the H1N1 situation.
Hospital did not have to curtail patient and/or family influx to the hospital due to lack of N95
masks.

GSGPC is a joint venture formed between The Goodyear Ti re & Rubber Company and Sumitomo
Rubber Industries (Japan) in 1999. Jointly, these companies total $8B in raw material spend
spanning 52 ti re manufacturing facilit ies.

Formulated a comprehensive global supplier development program and set the basis for performance
metrics based on benchmarking studies. Developed and managed staff of 7 located in Asia and
E astern Europe.
• Led LEAN process programs resulting in 50% improvements in cycle t ime and completion
p redictability.
• Created leverage and alleviated tight supply while returning $1M savings with the addition of 6
new Chinese suppliers and increased participation from 2 Eastern European producers. Plans for
2009 identified 15 new suppliers and completion of several approvals to contribute to the $250M
cost savings target.

Strategic management and negotiation of a $950M global fil lers (carbon black, silica, and silane)
business encompassing 70 suppliers /150 +manufacturing locations servicing 52 GSGPC facilities.
D irectly supervised staff of 3 and indirectly managed 6 regional associates. Chosen as 1 of 5
p rocurement executives for this assignment.
• Produced annual productivity savings of $18M, $30M, $43M along with $13M + working capital
i mprovements.
• Created and implemented new bid analysis tools with a 99% success rate across the supply base.
Tool reduced the cycle t ime for negotiation, bid analysis and award by 25%.
• Developed associates for promotional opportunities and restructured to improve organizational
effectiveness.

m arkets, and sells tires. Prior to financial restructuring, Goodyear manufactured synthetic polymers,
resins, industrial rubber products, and operated natural rubber plantations.

control spending, create adherence to Ariba catalogs, and improve cash f low to improve the company

local purchasing managers.

• Achieved indirect spend and consumption reduction of $100M through detailed purchase order
reviews.
• Established auctions for scrap lowering the landfill costs by 3% and improving the green

P romoted to manage a $50M direct and indirect spend budget for the Asia region. Travelled
extensively (35%) to supervise 13 direct reports (9 local purchasing managers, 1 regional coordinator
(Asia based), and 3 direct reports (US based). Established creative communication plans to engage
staffing e-tools and aggregate spend.
• Established GY’s first global E-auction t ransformed model saving the company $772K on a $5M
spend. Additional savings of $5-10M were logged using this model with working capital
i mprovements of $3M.

• Aggregated 10% of regional spend and designed centralized negotiations across 15% of spend in
marketing, promotional items, print, personal protective equipment, labels, and etc.
• Developed organizational talent later promoted to positions in auditing, six sigma, and regional

Navigated a career move back into Goodyear’s core business to supervise purchasing activit ies and
negotiations over a $500M spend with a staff of 4 managing synthetic rubber, pigments, chemicals,
energy, and oils.
• Negotiated contracts with savings of $7M + and recovered $500K + i n scrap waste.
• Directed the activities of the cross-functional purchasing councils to improve communications and
a lign goals with 100% participation.

Accepted the challenge to correct broken processes, assess the organizational skill levels, and create a
d isciplined and supportive technical customer service organization. Managed 3 paint chemists and 1
l aboratory technician to provide technical service, sales training and development of paint
formulations and l iterature to support $8-10M sales over 20-30 customers. Provided support and
customer interaction dur ing the annual paint conferences and exhibitions.
• Modeled a program to increase the effectiveness and integrity of the wet paint sample program
w hich resulted in improved customer feedback and increased sales activity by 30% and distributors
f rom 8 to 10 with an 8% sales increase.

Developmental assignment to manage the P& L for a $10M vinyl pyridine latex business in Calhoun,
Georgia. Worked with sales people to train on purchasing tactics to improve sales organization’s

• Successfully implemented a price increase to generate ~$1M in revenue and reduced dependency
on lower margin, high maintenance customers. Continued balance between external and internal
customers.
• Developed a global, computerized sales program to identify market position of competitors, key raw
material purchases and critical raw material suppliers.
