school teachers to scientifically investigate climate change using
high performance computing systems;
. Observed and evaluated TACC's Scientific Computing Courses; designed
the package of all course materials, resources, and guides for
faculty at other universities to adopt; advised and assisted Texas
State Technical College to fund and develop their own HPC Associate
of Applied Science degree;
. Represented TACC on the advisory board for the TeraGrid Campus
Champions program;
. Developed tour program serving K-12 students and teachers,
undergraduates, and graduates and utilizing TACC's supercomputing
and visualization systems;
. Led workshops for the HPC education community and teachers at major
HPC conferences.
1996 - 2006 Education Program Coordinator
McDonald Observatory, The University of Texas at Austin
Major Accomplishments:
. Produced student and teacher professional development programs
impacting hundreds of teachers and thousands of students;
. Assisted to design and produce interactive exhibits about
astronomical spectroscopy and stellar distance measurement;
. Contributed to the design and advanced functions of StarDate Online;
. Produced several new databases and enhanced the functionality of
StarDate Magazine's database system.
1992 - 1995 Undergraduate Research Assistant
Astronomy Department, The University of Texas at Austin
Major Accomplishments:
Performed research, data analysis, and programming (Fortran 77) under
three researchers in the Department of Astronomy:
. Chris Sneden: chemical abundances of giant stars in several
globular clusters to determine neutron-capture processes;
. Bill and Anita Cochran: infrared emission from comet Shoemaker-Levy
9 impacts on Jupiter.
